Margaret Holmes: Hi, Margaret. Freeview channel 87 is one of a group of channels, called a 'multiplex', that needs a Freeview HD receiver to decode the signal into one which will decode the signal to render a watchable tv picture and audible sound. Are you sure that your tv setup includes an HD receiver?

Roerbt: Hi, Roerbt, or should that be Robert? There are no reported faults or engineering works at Haslemere and atmospheric pressure is low, at around 995 millibars currently, so there is no obvious transmission issue that would affect reception of Haslemere. Are you absolutely certain that all of your aerial lead connections are sound? Sometimes it is simply a case of checking that all of your coaxial plugs are screwed up, but not over-tightened, and that they are plugged into the wall-plate and the tv firmly and not loosely. What readings are you getting for signal strength and for quality on BBC SD channels and for the HD channels that are breaking up? Could you reply soon, please, as I had intended to have an early night, so would like to return to you soon. Hear from you soon, Richard, Norwich, 9:20 p.m.

Please can anyone tell me how to appeal against the fact that Aljazeera English service HD is not available from the Stockland Hill transmitter. Aljazeera used to be on freeview channel 133 and I watched no problem - now it has become HD and we can't receive it. Who makes these decisions? Could it not stay non HD? What is the issue? I am really missing this channel. I have tried emailing Aljazeera but no response. Thankyou anyone who can help or support.

Rachel Gundry: Good morning, Rachel. I think that you will find that it is the prerogative of the broadcasting company to choose which platforms it wishes to use to reach viewers. Al Jazeera English is an international state-funded 24-hour English-language news and current affairs TV channel owned and operated by Al Jazeera Media Network, which has its headquarters in Doha, Qatar. You could, therefore, contact the broadcaster with your comments. I have, however, found an alternative way for you to watch Al Jazeera English! You obviously have a computer with internet connectivity, otherwise you couldn't be sending comments to UKFREE.TV! I have found the website address for the Al Jazeera English 'watch live' TV webstream especially for you. You just copy and paste this link into your web browser and start watching!
Live Stream HD - Al Jazeera English
If your tablet or computer screen is too small, you simply run an HDMI lead from your computer into the HDMI connection on your tv set and then you can watch the live web-stream on your big screen tv again. I hope this advice will help you and restore your viewing of al Jazeera in English, using modern technology, but not Freeview any more! Richard, Norwich. PS My solution only costs the price of an HDMI lead, which is one poun ninety-nine pence plus delivery!

Rachel:
Please also see my response to your posting on the Belmont (Lincolnshore) pages, which I presume were posted there in error.
Further to that said by Richard, it is the perogative of the broadcaster to decide what service format they use. Al Jazeera have decied, it seems, to only provide HD services. As your reception of these around Taunton is rated as variable or poor than there is little we can do to change that. I am assuming you are trying to get the programmes using a full HD set and not an 'HD ready' one?

Rachel Gundry:I support wholeheartedly your views on Al Jazeera English being now HD only. I find both BBC and ITV (et al) rather boring when some UK event hits the headlines (at present the EU Referendum and Jo Cox's untimely death) and often went to Al Jazeera or RT.Com for world news. Now, I have to rely on the latter. It's a pity that no other new organisations are on Freeview.

Sorry about the minor typo in my last message: should read news organisations NOT new organisations.

MikeB: Why can I only receive 6 HD channels from the Idle transmitter in Bradford West Yorkshire when there should be 12 from other transmitters such as Emley Moor?

Stuart Swaine: Hi Stuart. The Idle transmitter does not carry the second set of HD channels in the group known as multiplex 'COM7', which would explain the reason for your inability to receive them, Richard, Norwich.
