How to Watch: BBC One HD

Below is a list of all the television and radio channels that you can watch in the UK using one of the free services: DAB (for radio), Freeview, Sky No Card - Sky without a viewing card (Freesat from Sky (or fSfS)) and Freesat.. Where a channel can be watched for free, the channel number is listed below. In addition, if you can watch (or listen) immediately online, press the button in the "web" column.

As some channels are exclusive to one service alone, you may need to get receive more than one service to get all the channels you want. From Wikipedia: The channel's annual budget for 2011/12 is 1,166.6 million.3 Along with the BBC's other domestic television stations, and many European broadcasters and some in Asia, it is funded principally by the television licence fee, and therefore shows uninterrupted programming with no commercial advertising at any time. It is currently the most watched television channel in the United Kingdom, ahead of its traditional rival for ratings leadership, ITV1. This system used a vertically-scanned image of 30 lines just enough resolution for a close-up of one person, and with a bandwidth low enough to use existing radio transmitters. - en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org link icon read more about BBC One HD on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

gary: Try to do a manual tune on C24, the HD frequency from Divis. Select DVB-T2 if a choice is indicated.

Post code is BT28 3JA I have a panasonnic freeview HD reciever The BBC HD,BBC1 HD,Ulster HD,Channel 4 HD,channels are showing signal strength and quaility of 10 on the bar reading but the RTE 1 ,RTE2 and TG4 channels have only a signal reading reading of 3 and this shows as red on bar reading

Any reason why these are so low compared to the other channels as I find these sometimes do not work and a bad signal box appears yet all other stations are fine

Can you help

Victor Hall: The are two possible reasons that spring to mind:

1. The NI Mux which carries RT One, RT Two and TG4 and is broadcast on UHF channel 39 (this is probably shown on the signal strength screen) comes from Black Mountain rather than Divis. From your location, Divis is on a bearing of 62 degrees and Black Mountain 76 degrees.

Therefore, try turning your aerial a little clockwise.

2. If you have a second aerial that you used to receive RT analogue on and this is connected to the same downlead as your Divis aerial, then this may be a factor.

If number 2 is the case, then, depending on the channel/frequency that the diplexer that combines the two feeds "splits" at, you could in fact be using your vertically polarised Clermont Carn, Co Louth aerial for reception of the NI Mux on C39.

The solution should number 2 be applicable may be that you can receive RT and other Irish Republic channels from Clermont Carn. These may already be tuned in on your receiver, probably in the 800s. If they are, bring up the signal strength on one and see if it is tuned to UHF channel 52 which is Clermont Carn.

Victor Hall: You do have two aerials connected to the same downlead (number 2), then I can give you a further explanation as to what might be happening.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this or if you know already, but it would seem BBC One Scotland HD (and possibly BBC One Wales HD) are launching next Monday (14 January 2013).

Last night, I noticed that the 2 simulcasts of BBC One HD on Astra 2F 11024MHz Hor. suddenly got Freesat guide data corresponding to the programming on BBC One Scotland (SID 8901) and BBC One Wales (SID 8911). However, while the guide said otherwise, the video for the local news slot was still "this is BBC One HD".

This morning, however, I checked forward on our YouView (Freeview HD) box and its guide suggests that Reporting Scotland (Scottish local news program) will be shown from Monday 14 Jan, so I suspect that is when the transition will happen, and the Freesat guide data is simply pre-emptive. Can anyone else confirm this (especially in Wales)?

Galashiels

Location, Scottish Borders, Galashiels.
Since BBC HD changed to Ch 101 I get "service is not running" message. Same with ITV HD. I have returned with no effect. TV is a JVC Freeview HD built in and I used to get both channels before the change. Am I returning incorrectly or is it a problem with East Borders, Selkirk transmitter? Disappointing to be paying licence fee and not getting full service.
Any advice?
Cheers

I live in the Netherlans and watch BBC 1 everyday, and most of all I watch BBC news. SInce BBC 1 has gone HD, I can no longer receive the local news. In my case it is London news. When the national news is over and follow by local news, I get a red screen as long as the local news is on.I can read on the screen that BBC1 HD cannot yet show programs in your area. My question is when will the local news be on HD so that I can once more watch London news?Thank you and hope tonhear from you
