My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

We live in RG22 4RZ, a few days ago we lost ITV, C4, C5, ITV2 (not ITV2+1 though?) and a few other channels I am not sure of. We have 4 different freeview abilities, 2 integrated and 2 separate boxes and all of them have lost the same channels. This happened about a month ago, I re-tuned and after about 4 re-tunes with random amounts of channels available each time it came back and has worked fine. I have tried re-tuning this time and also the re-set listed above and they won't come back?! Have got the aerial pointing at Hannington as that's our nearest transmitter using an in loft aerial which has been in the same place for 11 years! It hasn't been moved or knocked, all power and connections fine. any suggestions please?!

David: Judging by what you have reported would suggest that your best policy by far is to make some local enquiries to find out if others are also suffering from the same problem as yourself, that being the loss of programmes on PSB2 mux Ch42.
The other point being, that should a further retune enable you to regain a full compliment of channels only to find out that when one of them is subsequently selected from the EPG it results in a blank screen then you should resist the temptation to carry out another retune, as all this will achieve is that you wipe out everything already stored, and with the reason for this being, that unless the receiving device being used has developed a tuner defect then channels already stored are never lost even although selecting one results in a blank screen, as the channel will still be there but with a signal strength not high enough to resolve a picture.
You can test this out on one of your devices that offers manual tuning, this done by simply going into the tuning menu / manual tune and entering Ch42 (ITV etc) but do NOT press search or scan, because on most devices the level that the signal is being received at will immediately be indicated.
If you note the level of Ch42 and then change the channel number to Ch45 (BBC) and also what its indicating, then if you compare the two readings the reception threshold for your receiver will be roughly somewhere between these readings.

Hi - - since the transmitter was closed down last week I have had very poor recepeption on ITV/C4.C5 etc (all BBC channels are fine). I have been through the sequence of removing & restoring channels suggested, but without any improvement. I have nothing else on that could interfere & as I said IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED SINCE THE ENGINEERING WORKS OF LAST WEEK. Please can you resolve this deterioration of the signal.

> Scholes: The transmitter was off the air due to failure of the public electricity supply. Check that your tuner is receiving the Itv Channel 4 etc signal on C25, just in case it has found an out of area alternative which is now stored instead. Also, if your tuning is correct, check with your neighbours to see if they are also having problems. If they are there could be a local interference problem, or a fault with the transmitter on PSB2.

Tony Hewitt: Ilchester Crescent as well as Kings Weston, Mendip and a sizeable number of other transmitters covering the West region are on the engineering notice board as being liable to interruption starting the week commencing 25th March, and so I would advise you to try retuning at intervals starting later on today.
However should you find that the problem still exists, then if at all possible you could maybe check with a neighbour to determine if they are also experiencing difficulty with the reception of BBC, but though should it subsequently transpire that they are not then there is obviously a problem with your set up and so you should carry out a "manual tune" signal test on BBC mux Ch41, this achieved by entering the channel number in the "manual tune" box but NOT followed by pressing search or scan, giving an update on the result.
