My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

About 3 ? weeks ago we lost all freeview channels from our portable tv with indoor aerial, I assumed it was the aerial which only got a usable signal on about half the channels anyway, so I bought an indoor aerial with amplifier (41dB) - still no channels, so I then replaced the freeview box - still no channels, I then hooked the freeview box upto the aerial cable for our main tv (which has a BT vision box and works fine), still no channels or signal ?? cant think of anything else has anything changed recently ?
The portable aerial would normally point to the Tun wells transmitter and the main aerial points to Bluebell hill.

We would prefer it if people who only wish to moan and shout would refrain from posting.

For 30 years I have had a good signal from the Blue Bell Hill transmitter but for over a week all BBC channels are pixelating badly, making them impossible to watch, ITV and other Freeview channels are perfect. Websites say there is no fault or engineering work, can you help please?

Jane: Bring up the signal strength screen on BBC One and confirm that it is tuned to UHF channel 45, which is that of Blue Bell Hill.

Thanks for your quick response, it's coming up as channel 46 - the same as BBC2

Jane: I am sure that Dave Lindsay meant Ch46, Ch45 simply being a typo error, however with queries of this nature you should really have provided a post code, or alternatively one from nearby such a shop / post office as its impossible to check transmitter info without this.

Paul Smith: The analogue channels were turned off in August 2011 - are you saying you've not had since then?
Presumably you mean since Wednesday when the frequency of the BBC channels changed. If so try a manual tune for UHF channel 49 and if nothing comes up check with neighbours if it's a communal aerial, then get onto your landlord if multiple flats are having problems.
