Want to know which transmitters will carry extra Freeview HD?
I am working on integrating this information into UK Free TV. Note there are a number of sites with restricted radiation patterns. This information may take a couple of days to generate coverage maps for.
I have used the "Nominal ERPs" (the power levels most likely to be employed in practice by the licensee).
Taken from Ofcom - Award of the 600 MHz spectrum band - it's bad news for The Wrekin and Sudbury, but good news for:

Richard Brown: Thank you very much for that information....the "friends" I referred to have a Sony WE66 TV which receives the Freeview HD programmes automatically and I have bought the same TV. I wait with anticipation for 30th November to arrive....in the meantime many thanks once again.

My transmitter, Beecroft Hil, has very few decent Freeview channels. What can I do? Many thanks

Martin Epstein: If you provide a full postcode we can see whether you might be able to use another transmitter that will give you more channels. Otherwise you could look at getting Freesat.

Since yesterday I can no longer see BBC4 and BBC News in HD (channels 106 and 107), which previously I have been watching. I understand my transmitter (Hemel Hempstead) no longer transmits Com7 and Com8 channels. Is it possible to know if this is likely to change back in the near future? or is one of the new transmitters coming on board likely to be available in my area? Alternatively, is there a way I can re-programme my tv to pick up the signal from Crystal Palace? My postcode is WD5 0DU.
I am rather upset that (without any notice, as far as I can work out) these channels are no longer available. I purchased an HD TV set fairly recently and I would not have done, if I had known the channels I mostly want to watch are not going to be available in HD.

Rosa: Hemel Hempstead has never transmitted BBC Four HD or BBC News HD so you must have been receiving them from another transmitter (Crystal Palace seems the most likely looking at the Digital UK checker for your postcode). If your TV has a manual tuning function, try manual tuning on UHF channels 55 and 56 (the new frequencies COM7 & COM8 have moved to at Crystal Palace. If that doesn't restore the missing channels, you could try contacting the Freeview Advice Line who may be able to arrange a replacement wideband aerial (free of charge if you don't have satellite or cable - see link below).

Hi I am fed up with the lack of signal when we get a slight bit of rain in our area, and why do we pay the BBC for a TV licence which has nothing to do with the signal!!!
Please tell me that!!
It's gu280la

Mandy Madgwick : You are only 9km away from the Midhurst transmitter and should be getting a strong signal. If you are loosing signal when it rains the most likely explanation is that the rain has gotten in to your aerial or cabling.
