Dave Lindsay,
Thanks for that info.
I've manually retuned C60 (786MHz), but there is no difference.
It was definitely already on this channel, so it was pointing at and receiving the signal from Angus, not Tay Bridge.
I've got 1 aerial with a mains-operated signal booster (without this I don't get enough signal for any kind of reception) and 3 receivers plugged into it (2 digiboxes and 1 TV).
All 3 receivers are affected to some degree, but 1 is much worse than the other 2, and only BBC channels are affected.
To my logic, 1 of 4 things has happened:
1. Aerial has moved (but it hasn't - I checked yesterday)
2. Booster has stopped working (but if so, why are only BBC channels affected?)
3. Signal strength has been changed at the Angus transmitter (which I have no control over)
4. Atmospheric conditions (it's now fine and sunny, so this shouldn't be an issue).
Nothing has changed in my set-up for 7 years and this is the first time I've had a problem, so I can't really understand why this is happening.
I'm considering either:
1. Changing the booster (which will be a waste of money if this isn't the problem)
2. Turning the aerial to point to Tay Bridge and then retuning.
Thoughts?
Cheers
Lee

Dave Lindsay,
Update:
I think I've sorted it.
I've fashioned a compass out of a cup of water, a small piece of paper and a pin, and checked the aerial alignment.
It was out by about 10-12 degrees, so I've re-aligned and now all the channels have come back and (so far) are behaving well.
I still don't know why the problem started though - as I said, I've had exactly the same set-up for 7 years...
Anyway, thanks for your help.
Lee

Hi
I live in Aldershot. I can only receive London news on both ITV & BBC but I want to receive news for this area which is, I believe from Meridian for ITV. Other people in this area seem to have this. Can you help me please? (51.2423,-0.7761)

Keith Chappell: I have to say, it's not looking great. How and where are they receiving it from? Those who have satellite (Freesat/Sky) will have it. Hannington is located beyond Basingstoke and carries BBC South and ITV Meridian (Thames Valley). But in the direction of Hannington the ground goes upwards so you are really pushing your luck to try for it. Midhurst also carries BBC South but has ITV Meridian (West) rather than ITV Meridian (Thames Valley). Line-of-sight is obstructed by the high ground at Hindhead. One of the most useful sources of information as to what you may be able to receive is where your neighbours' aerials are pointing. Judging by Google Streetview, most aerials point to Guildford, which carries BBC London and ITV London, as does Crystal Palace. The Guildford-facing aerials are vertical and judging by their size, and in some cases height, I'd say reception isn't easy. That said you would appear to have line-of-sight to Guildford at 7.5 miles, so I can only think that the transmitter doesn't put its full 2kW out in your direction. Indeed, the post-digital switchover coverage map is here and you are officially outside it: mb21 - Transmitter Information - Guildford The Crystal Palace aerials are horizontal and a bit anti-clockwise of the Guildford ones. "If" you can receive from Hannington (or Midhurst) then be aware that reception quality "may" vary by time of day, time of year and depending on the weather. For that reason I would always keep the existing London-region aerial. Indeed, I'll add another layer to this: The COM signals aren't as good from Hannington and Midhurst as the PSB channels. The PSB (Public Service Broadcaster) ones carry BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and some sisters of ITV and Channel 4. For most Hannington/Midhurst viewers this is fine and they can pick all channels up reliably. However, some will have intermittent reception of the COMs, either because of their lower transmission power and/or interference from another transmitter. I think that if you're pushing it to get the Hannington PSBs then you may not get reliable reception of its COMs. In such circumstances you may be able to combine two aerials, but this is only possible when UHF channel/frequency allocations permit. For example, if your current aerial is on Crystal Palace you could have a second one on Hannington and combine the two (assuming you can receive from Hannington which I'm not at all sure you can). This would allow you to watch PSBs from Hannington (including your desired BBC and ITV regions) and COMs from Crystal Palace. It's possible to combine Midhurst+Crystal Palace, but you couldn't combine Guildford with either Hannington or Midhurst. The combining approach would also give you a back-up if your prefered regional transmitter wasn't available (due to poor reception).

I've lost track of where I posted the message but just thought I'd give some feedback on the B34 area problem.
The signal levels on 666Mhz have now gone up (for the last few days) and we are getting 48-52% - a bit wobbly compared to the other bands and very occasional small dropouts - this is not better than before the last retune
but it is much better than it was and it is watchable now.
I hope the castle vale problem reported at the same time is improved.
Thank god I've lost the temptation to keep messing with the aerial and stuff every time it goes t**s up
(Thats a tip by the way folks - don't always assume it's your problem)

Hi
Has the EPG listings gone down on Quest? I have not been able to view forthcoming programs on my TV for a couple days although all other channels listings are okay.
Also Icannot pickup Quests plus 1 channel PROGRAM 37 but Program 38 Quest is fully working and no problems.
Any ideas Thanks.
Regards
Melvyn

Melvyn Mills: Although the EPG listing for Quest on (37) was down earlier on, however, it should have returned by now, if though it hasnt, then carry out a "manual" tune on Crystal Palaces COM4 / Mux Ch25 and check if this has rectified the situation, programmes such as ITV3 (10) / QVC (16) also being on COM4.
By the way, although Quest (37) is on COM4, Quest+1 (38) is transmitted on COM6 / Mux Ch28, as used by 4Music (18) / Ideal World (22) etc.
If all said has failed to cure the problem, then carry out a "Manufacturers reset" on your TV prior to retuning same, this also known on some brands of devices as "First time installation" / "Default setting" or some similar sounding name.

Although when putting in the desired postcode (SY15 6EB - just east of Churchstoke Powys) the map shows the correct location it shows only a transmitter - Waltham on the Wold in the east Midlands. Why would this be?

Jon Burns: This is obviously being caused by a glitch in the programme, and which Briantist the owner / operator of the site will no doubt pick up on.
However, if you click on "J's DigitalUK tradeview", seen in the blue box at the side of your posting, this will show the transmitters that cover your area, both of unfortunately being Freeview light PSB only transmitters, Oakeley Mynd being the most likely of the two.
