To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Also, you should check Freeview and Freesat set-top box updates | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice to see if new software is available for the box.

Tony Mason: You are not predicted to get good Freeview reception until 2012, when the Heathfield transmitter goes to full power digital service.
Currently the Hastings transmitter will provide you with a poor service, and this will actually get even worse in 2012.
I would suggest you consider using Freesat for the moment, and then use Heathfield when it switches for Freeview in 2012.

No, you have missed the point. The channels are all shown after a re-tune, but after a few days they have gone and another re-tune restores them. It is as though the memory has dumped it's contents. The auto-clock does not work, yet does after a re-tune. This is common to the other Panasonic HDDs that neighbours have.

Len- This could be down to a software issue, as Briantist pointed out. E-mail Panasonic with the details and get your neighbours to do the same.
Hope you get the problem sorted.

Hello,
i'm in Worcestershire, postcode wr11, Sutton Coldfield transmitter, i believe.
Every day between 4-5pm, our signal disappears and we have no television for most of the evening.
We have reception in the morning,and early afternoon. BT vision is installed, but we know it's nothing to do with that because my daughter has a teely with freeview box in her room, and she loses all reception at the same time.
I've tried rescanning after all the channel have been cleared but nothing- i keep scanning through the evening in the hope something might appear...just a blank screen, or if it decide to go during a programme, i'm left with a frozen picture...
No neighbours have this problem.
Can you help? i'm sooooo fed up of this :(((
Thanks,
Kim x

If you can locate the problem yourself, you probably need to call in a professional to find the source of the problem for you.
