My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.
I posted previously (live very near the Sandy Heath tower). I have two digital TVs, one of which works fine, the other has poor reception on BBC channels and doesn't pick up ITV1, ITV2, Ch4, Ch5, etc at all.
I moved the one that works and plugged it into the aerial socket of the one that doesn't and it stopped working. Perhaps it's the distance from the aerial, except the one that works is on the top floor closest to the aerial itself, suggesting it is not on a longer cable from the aerial.
Another suggestion was that the signal was too strong now. So I turned off the built in antenna amplifier and installed an attenuator. Things are now worse, suggesting the signal isn't too strong?
Maybe the signal is now too weak so TVs on the top floor are closer to the aerial and are getting a stronger signal. Will now try moving TV from ground floor to top floor to see if it works there.
Any other thoughts? Could the aerial be wrong? It worked fine picking up digital before the switchover.
Starting to get really annoyed. Seems I'm not alone.

Update: moved the ground floor TV to the top floor and it worked just fine; got all the BBC channels and ITV1, ITV2, Ch4, Ch5, etc.
So the problem is with the connection between the aerial and the socket on the ground floor.
Help? Do I need to try boosting it?

Sony RDR-HXD870: retunes OK but each day receives a message "new channel found, data updated" and all the channels disappear. Aerial on roof with booster and other freeview box (newer, Humax)upstairs working fine. When Sony freeview box loses its channels it changes from RF27 signal to RF45 signal. I can't find any way of stopping the Sony box updating and losing the channels (I've stopped the only update feature I can find - for software, I think) but no luck. There is a Sky box also connected to same TV as Sony freeview box. Any comments would be most appreciated.

This is ridiculous. I thought after the switch-over it should get all better. Apparently not!

Rosy March: If your Sony box has an analogue tuner it is possible that it is finding BBC2 from Hannington and then remains on the analogue channels after updating. C45 is no longer in use at Sandy Heath, possibly resulting in this previously unseen channel being found. Check too that the RF output of the Sky box is not set to C45 (I wouldn't expect it to be but the Sony must be finding a signal from somewhere on C45, the only other transmitter could be MuxC from Waltham.

Is this Digital switchover some sort of Rupert Murdoch masterplan to get more people signing up to Sky?
Still no joy. Every bit of advice on here so far gas proved useless. Can anyone shed any light on why so many people from Nottingham are losing out over this switchover?

K: Switchover at Nottingham refers to the Kimberley transmitter which only offers the PSB muxes currently at your location. You are most likely using the Waltham transmitter which changed frequency on MuxA to C29 on 30th March 2011 and Mux2 to C31 on 13th April 2011. This was to avoid a frequency clash in overlap areas with The Wrekin which is currently having switchover. Switchover at Waltham takes place in August. There has been no change to MuxD at Waltham.Did you do a factory reset to remove all memory of the old frequencies? If possible do a manual tune on C29, C31, C33, C42, C45 and C49. There do seem to be some signal quality problems especially with C31 but 100% quality is possible.
