My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

For the past couple of weeks, picture is breaking up and pixelating when i record ITV, ITV2 + 1 etc. I can watch the channels live but can't seem to record. Picture freezing for a split second every now and then when watching live tv. Have changed co ax cable, retuned, wiped clean, tuned the Crystal Palace stuff in again and really getting on my nerves now. Any Idea's please? Thanks

itv4 works fine whilst watching it, but when recording onto VHS there is something wrong. When playing back there is no picture just a no signal message. What might be causing this?

Daniel: What model of VHS recorder are you referring to? If by any chance its something like a Panasonic DVD/VHS combi with an analogue & Freeview tuner are you sure you have selected the Freeview tuner as the recording source? as its sounds as though its trying to record from its analogue tuner, and which will most likely not be receiving any signal.
This being said taking it that when you say ITV4 is fine when watching it, that you are actually viewing it via the recorders tuner.

i'm living in the ip14 area of suffolk and this last week i have not been able to use my digital recorder. I am lost without it! The screen is blank with a no signal icon. Digi boxes and tv receptions (digital) are fine. I cannot check to see coverage / default settings as the screen is black with just the icon and i have no way of leaving that screen via remote. I intend to take it around someone elses this weekend, but before i do: any help? CHEERS

I am tuned in to the Midhurst transmitter although much closer to Heathfield and all my missing channels are on one line and I guess I have single frequency interference. If I reposition my outside aerial to the Heathfield transmitter and retune will the problem possibly be solved. Post code is RH177LS.

Peter Bradbury: According to the trade view predictor you are not forecast as being able to receive Midhurst before March 2012, and even then only on a variable / poor status for the foreseeable future past 2014, so anything you try has to be an improvement.
Heathfield (10mls @ 115 degrees)indicates good reception being possible on all channels except for HD which isn't in operation until June 13th next year, the frequencies used by this station requiring a wideband aerial and which you may not have if the present aerial was chosen to cater for Midhurst's channels.

I got a freeview+ ditital tv recorder in August this year. I installed it with no problems. I did have to add an extention cable at the time as I move the TV to another part of the house. The system was all working fine until last Thursday when I lost several chanels (itv,ch4,ch4 etc - basicly all of row 2). A new digital aerial (high gain class 3) was installed about 18-24 months ago. I have tried the re-setting procedure, checking all the connections, re-setting procedure again but still not luck. What should my next step be? By the way I do get a distorted sound but no picture on the "missing" channels.

Mr lingdren if you only have a band b aerial channel 60 is out of its range if you are in a medium to poor reception area how old is your aerial any aerial fitted in the last 3 years should have been wideband. You should call your aerial rigger back and ask him for help, if your aerial is over 1 year old there will proberly be a charge. Hope this helps
