My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

MikeP, thanks for the info, I have spoken to the aerial fitter, and he tells me, correctly or incorrectly, I don't know, that I would not pick up the com7 and com8 services very well even if I went horizontal, but that I would reduce the quality of all the other channels if I did go horizontal, plus get more co channel interference from France. Am I being told the whole story, or should I seek help from another aerial rigger?
Thanks

Just seen the much lower radiated power for com7 & com8, 24kw and 18kw respectively, as against 200kw for the main mux, so I suspect that BBC4 HD will not be that good.

John Bayliss: The Digital UK trade checker result for your postcode suggests that reception would be substantially worse with a horizontally polarised aerial which would suggest that your aerial rigger was correct to fit the aerial with vertical polarisation. COM7 and COM8 in particular show a very weak predicted signal strength.

Thanks to all, I must accept no HD BBC4 on freeview, the aerial rigger was totally correct in his fitment, plus, I have now sourced a replacement sky hd box, so I now can revert to sky downstairs. I still need freeview upstairs, but not in HD yet!

John Bayliss: A Freesat box (44 quid new) would have done much the same thing as your 2nd hand Sky box, and of course its a one off payment. You might even have one in the back of your TV.

Why have I lost True Christmas on Freebies, it stopped last Thursday 6th October 2016, any help would be appreciated.

Pauline: According to information seen, True Christmas was removed from 74 on the G-Man multiplex and moved to the Local/Comux. You will have to carry out a retune in order to recover this programme, that is assuming that you are within the coverage area of this transmitter? unable to determine unless your post code is known, or at least one from somewhere nearby, e.g: shop incl Post Office

Derek Gill:
To be able to offer any meaningful assistance we need a full post code so that we can investigate the transmission and reception conditions in your locality.
