I know the Fremont Point transmitter was built in 1962 to bring the ITV Channel Television franchise to the Channel Islands, but can you tell me when did the Channel Islands first receive BBC Television? Did the Channel Islands have to wait until Channel Television was launching to receive BBC Television, later BBC One and Two or was there a separate transmitter built in the 1950s to bring BBC Television and Radio to the islands? I have never had this questioned answered fully as I was always pointed to Fremont Point transmistter, but since that was only opened in 1962 it seems a long wait for the islands to receive BBC Television, way after the rest of the UK. For example I am from Northern Ireland and the Divis transmitter in Belfast came on the air in 1955, four years before the launch of Ulster Television, the Northern Ireland ITV franchise. I look forward to your reply. Thank You.

We have noticed the signal on all the Channels on the No 30 frequency is very weak at 2/10, thus we have effectively lost them, including W, Talking Pictures Yesterday + others. In addition, No 28 has been reduced to half strength, set at 5/10. Is this due to the maintenance or is it a fault? This signal comes from the St Paul's Transmitter in St Leonards on Sea.

The transmitter in question is known as 'Hastings' and it does not appear on the list.
The two UHF channels you are having difficulty with are the two highest, with the worst affected being the highest, 30. The next one below 28 is 26, which is COM5 / Arq A multiplex.
Freeview has published a list of programme channels including which multiplex ('mux') they are on:

The 'C' numbers are UHF channel numbers, the broadcast channel shown by your TV.
One possible cause could be interference from a nearby mobile phone base station that has just started operating in the frequency band which was previously used for TV. Restore TV is the organisation responsible for alleviating such interference. They will send a filter out which will filter out the mobile signal, stopping it from getting to your TV. Enter your postcode into their site to see if they have sent you a postcard, meaning they think there is a possibility the base station could be an issue for reception:

Most people have a TV aerial that connects directly to the TV, without any amplifier or booster. If that is you, then a filter that goes behind the TV is suitable.
If you have an amplifier such as on the roof or in the loft then any filter will need to be fitted before the amplifier. In such circumstances, you should tell Restore TV you have an amplifier and if it is in an inaccessible place, such as on the roof, they should send an engineer out to fit a filter.

There could be other reasons that you are having reception problems. Steve has taken his best guess at one of the potential problems. Poor reception of those multiplexes may be another. As Steve has indicated, it's likely that it's the Hastings transmitter that you are actually receiving based on your information, but reception of each multiplex can be very dependant on location and we can't check that without a full postcode.
Once we've checked the predicted reception we can then see the likely possibility of general interference, or even the possibility of a fault on your aerial system.
Also where the aerial is located would be helpful.

Update on previous information. The Hastings transmitter has an Engineering post indicating that it's having Planned Engineering - Possible effect on TV reception week commencing 01/07/2024 Pixelation or flickering on some or all channels.
It is not appearing on the main list that Steve mentioned.
Errors in listing are not unheard of, again your predicted reception may help indicate whether any Planned Engineering if occurring, is likely to have a big impact on your reception.
