Tina McDonnell: If the problem is happening at the same time every day then the most likely explanation is that you're getting electrical interference from something nearby operating on a timer. Do your (or your immediate neighbours) have anything with an electric motor operating at the times that you're loosing signal?

Tina McDonnell: I don't think so but I will keep an eye out. It was not working at 6am this morning but all other channels were?? I am a bit perplexed about it really and frustrated too. My neighbour also reports the same thing. Could the recent storm affect it? Then why does it work in the evenings?? What can I do about it and can I report it to anyone?? Thanks

Tina McDonnell: Transmitters don't reduce their broadcast power at certain times of the day so a transmitter fault is very unlikely. You need to track down the source of the interference and get whoever is responsible to repair or replace the equipment causing it.

I still have no signal and this is the third day. When can I expect to be able to watch my television again?

Karen Owen: The Llandecwyn transmitter changed frequencies early on Wednesday 14th. If you have not already done so you will need to retune. If that does not restore your channels you should contact the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

Karen Owen:

No. Your TV will not show any signals until you have at least one multiplex tuned. A brand new TV does not have any channels tuned in before you get it, When you set it up you have to use the tuning features for it to find any signals received from at least one transmitter (there are over 1100 of the across the UK so it is impossible for manufacturers to pre-tune them as they, like us, have no idea which is your best transmitter option).

So you need to make sure your aerial is properly connected, switch on the TV and then use the automatic tuning feature. It will tell you how to do that in your User Manual.

Once you have done that you should have some programmes available. To check that you have all that are available at your locality, go to the Digital UK Cloverage Checker at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ker, put in your full post code and house number and start it searching. It will display a listing of the available transmitters in your area together with an indication, by the colours of the bars, what the expected reception is like. Select the nearest one with as many green bars as possible and note the channel numbers shown in that listing. Then, on your TV, select the Manual Tuning option - but DO NOT RETUNE. compare the channel numbers shown by your TV with those given by Digital UK. Make sure you are tuned to those channels for the best reception.

Note that you are likely to need a wideband aerial these days for most, but not all, transmitters. You also need a Freeview HD capable TV zet, not just 'HD Ready' as that does not allow it to receove the HD programmes.

Hope that helps?

Porthmadog

Reporting issue with ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. The house is 6 Roche Terrace, Porthmadog, LL49 9BH. We are only receiving BBc channels, for example:
1 - BBC 1 Wales
2 - BBC 2 Wales
9 - BBC FOUR
202 - CBBC
202 - CBeebies
231 - BBC News
232 - BBC Parliament

We have retunned the TV twice and still only BBC channels. I check the flat above me and they are too only receiving BBC channels. Another apartment which has their own TV ariel in Porthmadog are also only getting a few channels, their address is 1 Oakeley Wharf, Porthmadog, LL49 9AY.
