Why are the Freeview channels in the Llandrindod area of Wales so BBC orientated? 25 of the 33 channels available are BBC channels (over 75%).

Machynlleth
My local repeater (Machynlleth) used to be 20watts output using analogue but is now 4watts with digital, why is this? And would an increase in power help people like me who are outside the current footprint?

Rob Goodall: Yes, the drop of 7dB is standard over all the UK transmitters.
Less signal power is required for the digital services to provide the same coverage area as the analogue ones had.
There was never any intention for additional homes to be covered at switchover. You need to use Freesat instead of Freeview.

Briantist: Thanks, it's a shame that having moved into the area all my expensive existing terrestrial equipment (PVR, HD boxes)are scrap! Thanks for the quick and helpful reply though. Rob
