CAN YOU TELL ME IF THERE ANY PLANS IN THE FUTURE TO HAVE A DIGITAL TRANSMITTER FOR THIS AREA TO BE ABLE TO PICK UP CHANNELS VIA NORMAL AERIAL ?
thank you

DIANE MATTHEWS: The Digital UK predictor suggests that you may be able to receive from Ffestiniog transmitter. However, it only carries Public Service (PSB) channels and this is not likely to change. See here for why we now have a two-tier terrestrial television transmitter network:

Londonderry (Northern Ireland) digital TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - 10 years of independent, free digital TV advice

For that reason, in order to receive anything more than is carried on the PSB multiplexes, you will have to use satellite, e.g. Freesat.

DIANE MATTHEWS: Well although you reside in an extremely hilly area the Ffestiniog transmitter located 4 miles away on a bearing of 157 degrees is indicated as providing good reception where you are located, and indeed on a scout around your area I did actually see a number of properties with television aerials, two of slightly forward of your location and to the extreme right of it next to the roadway.

The only thing I will say though is that the local station referred to only provides PSB channels, no ITV3, Pick TV, Sky news etc, etc and with this situation never changing, and so if you want a full service then Freesat is the only way that you will achieve it.

Robert Cooper: Some time after the power was restored to the site!

Using the postcode look-up for powercuts on the SP Energy Networks site:

As of now it says:

"Fault Completed

There was a planned outage in your area which is now complete."

Why am I unable to get BBC channels in the morning in the Porthmadog area?? It is fine in the evening and I have no trouble getting other channels. Is there a problem with this? My neighbour also has the same issue. Neither of us has a satellite dish, just the outside aerial. Please tell me what the issue is. Thanks

Tina McDonnell: If the problem is happening at the same time every day then the most likely explanation is that you're getting electrical interference from something nearby operating on a timer. Do your (or your immediate neighbours) have anything with an electric motor operating at the times that you're loosing signal?
