The symbol shows the location of the Llandinam (Powys, Wales) transmitter which serves 7,400 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Llandinam (Powys, Wales) mast?

seems to be off air right now - I guess due to the high winds this afternoon.

Gail Gwesyn-Pryce.I would look up inversion effect as a likely cause of your predicament as such.
You mentioned it being sunny, well areas of high pressure (most of the time) can lead to reception playing up and occasionally picking up alien transmissions (not the ET type) so check now and again between 21-68/9 frequencies of any anomolies.

Can you please tell me when the bbc standard definition channels will be reinstated on the Llandinam transmitter. I have an elderly neighbour who has an old television which cannot play high definition channels so she can't watch bbc at all at the moment. She does pay her licence fee!! Thankyou

Stuart Manson:

A fault has been reported according to the latest data from the BBC but Arqiva never provide details of such things as it will take time to get an engineer on site, discover and remedy the fault.

The fault reported is "From 10:35am on 30th Oct 2023 BBC A Off the air due to a fault"
Now the timing of that is after your post above which suggests the possibility of another problem if your neighbour hasn't been receiving the BBC channels for a while. When did she stop getting them?
Were you getting them prior to 1035?

The was a previous fault reported 3 days ago
From 3:44pm to 6:51pm on 27th Oct 2023 BBC A & BBCB HD Off the air due to a fault, along with the DAB & FM faults, that one suggests the whole transmitter may have been off-air (the BBC don't report on the ITV/C4/C5 channels) perhaps due to a power cut!. Have you been receiving other channels ok? have you had any power cuts in the area today?

Stuart Manson: According to Freeview, there are engineering works at Long Mountain transmitter, which is where Llandinam gets its feed from:

Planned engineering works | Freeview

There is a comment to this site from someone on the Carno transmitter complaining of issues. Carno is another relay of Long Mountain.

Long Mountain has 14 relays: Broneirion*, Carno*, Castle Caereinion, Kerry, Llanbrynmair*, Llandinam*, Llanfyllin, Llangadfan, Llangurig UHF*, Llangynog, Llanidloes*, Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant, Moel Y Sant, Tregynon. Those marked with a '*' are shown as having the following faults by BBC Reception [bbc.co.uk/reception]:

From 10:35am on 30th Oct 2023 BBC A Off the air due to a fault
From 3:44pm to 6:51pm on 27th Oct 2023 BBC A Off the air due to a fault
From 3:44pm to 6:51pm on 27th Oct 2023 BBC B HD Off the air due to a fault

All others have no faults, including Long Mountain itself.

Of those six with faults, one is Llandinam and the other five are relays of Llandinam, this information from mb21 Transmitter Gallery.

Also from mb21, Llandinam is now line fed (fed by fibre line) from Long Mountain, although there are antennas at Llandinam pointing at Long Mountain, perhaps as standby (this just speculation on my part).
