L Howarth: You are likely to be receiving signals from Preselli. Reception on C49 is shown as being variable for your postcode. Use a good quality group B aerial carefully positioned and aligned for best signal pick-up. Also check that no equipment has the RF modulator set around C49.The Digital UK postcode checker shows reception on C42 and C45 deteriorating slightly to become variable in April 2011.

We are experiencing extensive pixilation on all channels but particularly ITV ,C4 and C5. It occurs at different times but predominantly from 9pm.
Last time this occured to the same extent there was major work being undertaken to build a Gas Power Station, however, to our knowledge this is not the case at present.
We do not want to go to Sky we just want to enjoy a good picture with Freeview.
I have checked the cables, re-tuned as you have suggested etc.
Please can you help.

Martin Melbourne: We need a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted coverage etc. Retuning will never fix a problem with poor signal as all you are doing is deleting your correctly tuned channels and searching for them again.

Martin Melbourne:

As per the post before yours, the BBC reported a fault. There's the possibility the fault has not yet been fully fixed.
As you've retuned it'll probably have cleared the correct tuning when there's no signal, so you'll have to repeat the retune, maybe several times as you won't know when the signals will be back.
It is never advised to retune if you have no signal or badly pixellated pictures.

My mum is in care home SA72 6HJ and i believe some parts of the roof are having solar panels put on. I notice an antennae of some variety has been erected 3 blocks west of these premises. I have checked the manuel multiplex numbers for BBC and ITV from both Pembroke Dock and Preseli and the signal strength is currently less than 50%. Mum has been getting big green blocks on her screen. Her Sky Arts from Preseli has been even worsely affected. Her HD which used to be non existant is now very strong. What is going on? Has the antennae blocks away or the solar panels caused the problem do you suppose? Mum says the signal does come back early in the morning and late at night. Thank you.

Chris Williams: If the aerial is a communal one then it is the responsibility of the care home to get someone in to see to it. Is it her own aerial or is it a communal one serving multiple rooms?

Steve Donaldson: communal (mum watches alone in her room but i gather the common room has Sky or cable). Easy to forget that other residents might be having the same problem. While i was away the care workers noticed interference but couldnt resolve it.

I looked in the street last night. The aerial is away from the new solar panels. Raining as i type and BBC is back fine whereas ITV and Sky Arts rather than being the green blocks are now white pixelation with better hit & miss sound.

Chris Williams:

Irrespective whose aerial it is, Preseli has been on Planned Engineering and therefore may be on reduced power or using the Reserve Antenna (lower down the mast) so signal to you may not be as good. If the aerial is pointing at Preseli, you wont' get a very good signal from Pembroke Dock as it's a very low power relay (10W) and is the opposite direction to Preseli.

The predicted reception from Pembroke Dock for that postcode is not that good anyway.
Predicted reception from Preseli of the COM multiplexes, one of which carries Sky Arts, is not as good as the main channels BBC/ITV/C4/C5 etc. So the Planned Engineering is probably the reason for the current problem.

Having said that, the postcode should have been sent Postcards from Restore TV about possible interference from a new/upgraded mobile phone mast.
See https://restoretv.uk/postcards-not-sure/
If it's her own aerial rather than a communal one, she could get a free filter. If it's a communal aerial then whoever is responsible for the system has to pay an installer for a Filter IF one is needed.
