We cannot normally get BBC4 in HD front the Cerne Abbas transmitter but it became available in the run-up to the Olympics in Rio and for a short time afterwards (on channel 106). This has now been discontinued and we are forced to revert to SD on channel 9. Is there any chance BBC4 will be available in HD again in the future?

Nick Warren: Probably not until the BBC switch to broadcasting in HD only, sometime in the next few years (no date has been announced yet).

The signal from the Cerne Abbas transmitter carries regional news programmes from Bristol (Points West etc) whereas where we are situated (Sydling St Nicholas, just north of Dorchester) our BBC news is covered from Plymouth (South West). I suppose we are stuck with this as long as we are using Freeview?

Nick Warren: If you provide your postcode we can see if there is an alternative transmitter you may be able to use. Alternatively you could get Freesat or watch BBC South West news on iPlayer.
