Signal keeps blinking on/off every 30 secs or so, lost ITV completely. BBC effected, not sure if it could be Railway works, or weather conditions. Some sort of interference, started from 8.00pm yesterday (15th August 2023) Making watching Freeview impossible, please help with any information. According to the BBC Transmitter faults page our local transmitter, which supposedly does '500 people' only? has a pink Fault indicator.
Is this the problem? checked all our wires/connections, we live in Hamstreet, Kent (TN26 2EZ). Are we the only ones affected? Please let me know ASAP.
Thank you.

Tom:
The red triangle ! does indicate problem associated with the Ham Street transmissions, so it isn't just you.
The BBC are reporting multiple occasions with reception problems yesterday and today. This is the result of current weather conditions (Tropospheric Ducting) which does result in interference to wanted signals.
There is nothing you can do, do NOT retune, this may clear your correct tuning. It's a case of patience until conditions change. If you have a smart TV and a reasonable internet connection, you could try using iPlayer, ITVX etc.

Tom: There was recently a report to this website of temporary traffic lights apparently causing an issue elsewhere in the country. Are there temporary traffic lights near you?
"one.network" (which shows roadworks across the country) shows temporary traffic lights on Ashford Road near to Hamstreet Primary Academy, the responsibility for the works being the County Council. Have they moved further south and near to your cul-de-sac?

Tom: Noting Chris.SE's comment about the BBC reporting a fault with the transmitter, it would seem a likely cause, and then perhaps not likely to be any nearby temporary traffic lights. Although if symptoms appearing coincided with traffic lights being turned on then it might be worth considering as a cause, expecting them to stop when the lights are taken away.

Tom: 'Thank you for the replies', It seemed to improve by itself.
'BUT' in the last two weeks, Freeview has been 'lost completely'. Now it's back, but keeps blinking on/off. Not sure if problem with Aerial in our loft, as we had guttering done recently. More likely some sort of nearby interference, is anyone else having problems in Hamstreet? Signal is weak generaly according to our TV hub (BT). I think most people down our road have Sky TV, so may not be affeceted. Saturday/Sunday was bad, losing picture completely, tried retuning. Just affects Freeview.
Thanks.

Tom:
It's current weather conditions affecting you, they have been causing Tropospheric Ducting affecting much of the south coast and southern parts of the country on Saturday and now extending into the Midlands and North of the country through Sunday including East Anglia, and now affecting Wales and England. This causes interfering signals from distant transmitters in Europe or the UK to affect reception of your wanted signals. This can periodically last, seconds, minutes and sometimes much longer - Do NOT Retune.
There is nothing you can do about this apart from wait for conditions to change, or use online streaming if available.
IF you did retune, you be best manually retuning the UHF channels for your transmitter.
The BBC and Freeview have issued warnings -
