not sure if I should be posting here. I live in Newtowncunningham in Co Donegal, about 10 miles from Derry.
Last year I bought 3 new Samsung Tvs (for living room, kitchen, bedroom) to be able to receive the uk and irish digital channels (Saorview & Freeview)
When I set them up they all tuned in the irish channels and the uk ones for both tv and radio.
However a few months ago I noticed that the tv in the living room does not get rte digital text but only the old style text. In an attempt to try to fix this I did a retune of the channels but it has picked up only the irish tv and radio channels (18) but lost the uk channels.
(the other 2 tvs still receive ok all the channels)

Is this due to some change with the freeview channels or I suspect that receptionfor tis particular tv for the uk channels is not 'strong' enough?

joe: I would suggest trying another retune to pick up the UK channels. If this doesn't work, you can do a manual retune. There should be a menu option. If you normally get "Freeview Light" which means you get no ITV3, ITV4 and Sky News (and quite a few others) then you will be picking up the Londonderry transmitter so search Ch 41 and Ch 44. If you get ITV3 etc then you may be picking up Limavady so check the channel numbers for it.

joe: Where were you receiving the Freeview channels from?

If it is/was Sheriff Moutain then be aware that it broadcasts vertically and only carries Public Service (PSB) channels.

Hollywell Hill, not far from Sheriff Mountain, is horizontally polarised, so even though both may be on roughly the same bearing, you may require two aerials or else suffer poor or intermittent reception of one of them.

Why only Freeview LITE for NIs 2nd largest city??? Disgraceful really. Areas of Coleraine and Antrim receive twice the amount of channels.
