David Mansell:

There are no problems reported at the transmitter and no other viewers have reported such eirther. So please check all your aerial cables and connections. Unplug all coaxial plugs and sockets and then refit them and try viewing BBC1.

David Mansell & MikeP: Actually, it looks like there was engineering work taking place yesterday, just that the notice didn't appear until after David had posted.

MikeP: I live in Todmorden, you don't. Why do you make ridiculous comments with no evidence and without checking the BBC's reception problems page where you would have seen that the Todmorden transmitter was down?

Despite the restitution of the Todmorden relay and despite my Youview box reporting that the BBC 1 SD signal strength and signal quality are both 100%, there is break-up on the SD picture. No problem with the HD signal.

David Mansell:

At the time I responded there was no information avaiulable about any engineering wirk at the transmitter - which is exactly what I stated. Only later did the information become available. SO I was absolutely correct at the time. Please don;t be so rude!

MikeP: You posted at 10.40pm. There were two posts by the owner at 11.08am and 5.08pm saying the transmitter was down. Why not try reading them before telling me how to use my equipment. You have no idea of my technical level, but do seem to have a superiority complex.

David Mansell: The transmitter engineering posts are automated and often do not appear until several hours later. No one is telling you how to use your equipment, although it isn't unreasonable to assume that by posting on an unofficial technical help website that you were seeking assistance to resolve your loss of signal. Loose or damaged cables and connections are a common cause of faults and are an entirely sensible starting point if no information was available at the time of posting regarding engineering work.

StevensOnln1: I posted on this website to alert people to the fact that the Todmorden relay was not working whereas the website said that there were no engineering problems. I checked with the BBC reception website, which did report the problem, before posting here. Mr P. posted 12 hours later without checking anywhere else. I said that there were no TV or radio signals, which do not involve aerial cables if you are using a portable set. People shouldn't jump with both feet if they are not sure of their facts and can't even be bothered to correct their spelling mistakes.
