I live in Winterbourne Abbas and get my signal from the Winterbourne Steepleton Transmitter. Digital swithchover is not planned for some time yet so we rely on Analogue. For the last few days there has been no picture on BBC2, ITV or Ch4 after midnight. The BBC1 channel is the only one available. Please let me know why.

Thankyou

Tess Alison: "BBC2 off air DSO related from 00:20 today to 05:33 today" from BBC engineering, posted on the Rowridge transmitter page. It would appear that work is taking place to test the high power digital transmitters at Rowridge, which will use the same frequencies after switchover as analogue BBC2, ITV1 and Channel 4 use currently. BBC1 remains on air as it uses a frequency not used for TV, at least initially, after switchover.

Tess Alison:

There is a report that the Transmitter was off-air From 12:18pm to 12:21pm on 29th Apr 2024 due to Essential Engineering.

I hope you did NOT carry out the Freeview "Reset" procedure whilst you had either NO Signal or badly pixellated pictures. You cannot tune to signals that aren't there or can't be decoded.
The usual result is to just clear your correct tuning, you may even get tuned to weak signals from another transmitter which won't be reliable..

As you haven't given a full postcode, we can't advise which transmitter may be best in your location as some parts of the area can receive more than one transmitter. Without that we can't we advise if you may be subject to other interference.

Check in your TV tuning section that you are correctly tuned to Winterbourne Steepleton's UHF channels which are C39, C45 & C42 (the latter for the HD channels). Once you are correctly tuned, leave it alone - it doesn't matter whether the signals disappear or are pixellated due to faults, engineering or weather conditions, you just have to be patient.

J Hobbs:

Please read the two posts before yours. There's obviously been a fault and engineering work is being carried out. Do NOT retune.
