We're now getting the three public service digital muliplexes here in Todmorden, but what about the Arqiva muxes? Are they still to come?

Was looking forward to Dave and Film4, etc. We've waited years for Freeview to reach our backwater - do we have to go to Freesat after all?

I have to second the question on when Arqiva will upgrade the local Todmorden relay. Channels such as Dave would finally drive me to buy a Freeview box and actually watch some TV.

Paul: Have you tried receiving signals direct from Emley Moor? Use a group B aerial set for horizontal polarisation, pointing E at 110 degrees. The Digital UK postcode checker predicts good reception at your location on all six muxes, subject to there being no local obstructions such as trees or tall buildings in the signal path.

Briantist: Thanks, I hadn't realised no Dave on Freesat. Would need a Sky box then.

KMJ,Derby: Big hill blocking the line of sight. When Emley first went digital I tried to find a reflection off the opposite hillside with 4 x 48ele phased array (!) but no luck. Might be worth another try.

PS anyone know if the DVB-T signal has any sort of pilot carrier that can be picked up on a narrow band scanner (SSB mode)?

Paul: DVB-T does not have a "pilot carrier", it is 6,817 or 1,705 sub-signals using a 16- 64- or 256- quadrature amplitude modulation and is thus a "digital signal".

Paul Todmorden. You could always try the main Winter Hill transmitter using a Yagi 18C (group C/D) or XB16E (group E) horizontally polarised aerial,it is a possibility !

Mark: Winter Hill is only 30km away but the line of site is blocked by a nearby hill. If only I lived high on the north side of the Calder valley :). Looks like my only option is satellite if I can a place to put a dish.
