MikeP: In fact my comment was published at least an hour before the BBC put their announcement on the site, which doesn't say anything about engineering works, just that everything was off air. As I say when I checked the site there was nothing about engineering works, everything was supposed to be fine. I think you owe me an apology.

David Mansell: Also in fact you didn't post your comment until Friday and the Todmorden transmitter breakdown occurred on Thursday. Did you examine the chronology of my comment and of the BBC's comment. You will see that mine came first. The announcement of "engineering works" (just a euphemism for a breakdown, as no "engineering works" were pre-announced, the whole system just stopped at 9.00) you now see on the site was not there on Thursday when I logged into it, as you would know if you has logged in then, rather than on Friday, when it was all over. Your entire statement is rubbish.

David Mansell:
The announcement of engineering works is always given after the fact, so it was likely to be being done when you posted. The work done often involves either reducing the power output or switching the transmitter off completely, for the safety and well being of the engineers doing the work.
Engineering work is not a euphemism for a breakdown at all, it a conventional way of reporting that engineers are carrying out work at the site, sone of which involves attention to the electronics of the transmitter or to the physical structure of the aerials on the mast. As that is an area of high electromagnetic radiation, they may turn the transmitter off for health and safety reasons.

David Mansell: Looking at your three posts, why have you made such a big deal out of such a trival issue?

MikeB: Because you accused me of doing something I didn't do. I didn't jump the gun because there was no gun to jump. When I reported the Todmorden transmitter as being down this site was still saying there were no problems with it. If you are so privy to everything that happens at the Todmorden transmitter, perhaps you would care to share the cause of its shutdown with us. If any improvements were made to its operation they have yet to make themselves manifest as it still suffers from the same frequent drop-outs of signal as it did on the day before it broke down without any announcement.
Given your arrogance I can only assume that your name ends with a "k".

David Mansell: Actually, I'm MikeB, not MikeP, so I didn't accuse you of anything.
But looking back, you moaned about your reception last year - and we all said the same thing - get Freesat. But still you complain. And complain.

Did a retune recently and I now have ITV3 on 10 on Freeview (800 on Youview) and the aforementioned Sewing Quarter(!) on 78 on Freeview (801 on Youview). Presumably I'm getting them from Emley Moor?

David Mansell: ITV3 and Sewing Quarter are now broadcast from every transmitter on the PSB2 mux (alongside ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 etc). If you retune your Youview box it should put ITV3 on the correct channel.
