UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

rob : Does it pick up any of the other stations on the D1 mulitplex, such as Classic FM or Radio X? If it does then try a factory reset (if such an option is available anywhere) and then scan for stations again.

Why is LBC not transmitted from the Chatton transmitter? Driving around Northumberland, it appears whenever you can get a signal from Pontop Pike or Selkirk but otherwise nothing. Chatton is a main transmitter so I don't know why it doesn't carry the LBC service.

Fred Hotchen:
AFAIK there are no commercial DAB multiplexes transmitted from Chatton, only the BBC National mux.
LBC is on the D1 National Commercial multiplex which doesn't have as widespread a coverage.

Chris.SE: Thank you Chris. I wrongly assumed that the commercial DAB signal was transmitted from all the main stations. Doesn't make much sense that there is this coverage gap in north Northumberland and as a general comment, DAB is nowhere near up to replacing FM.

Fred Hotchen : The commercial broadcasters are generally only interested in covering areas with a large population. If a transmitter doesn't cover one or more large towns or cities that aren't already covered by another transmitter then it's unlikely that national commercial stations will be bothered by having a gap in their coverage.
