k.flood: Does your aerial point east to Crystal Palace or west to Hannington?

Hannington does not currently broadcast a significant amount of digital signal to the east. You might get enough signal for it to work sometimes, but not reliably. A professional installer should have known this and advised you accordingly. The analogue signals will be coming in at full strength, because there is no restriction, which means that if you tried to boost the signal (or the aerial has too much gain) you'd probably just overload the amplifiers.

At switchover, digital signals move to the main aerial at the top of the mast (replacing analogue), and you're then expected to have a good chance of reliable reception from Hannington.

The chances of reliable reception from Crystal Palace are excellent both now and after switchover.

After only six months, I'd get the installer back in to correct it free of charge.

Our aerial is in the loft. As of 7th July we have not been able to get ITV1 on any of our televisions. Our TVs are analogue. Can you advise. There are transmitter engineering works at the transmitter but you do not state that ITV1 is affected in any way.

M Rose, M Adania: If you're using digital already, then you aren't using the High Wycombe transmitter. At present, this only transmits analogue signals: BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1 and Channel 4.

There has been engineering work for digital switchover this week, which I would expect to affect all channels, not just BBC One and Two. 'Transmitter Engineering' is just an automated piece of software that scrapes the Digital UK engineering page and the BBC problem reports page. The BBC only publish the status of their channels, not ITV1 and C4.

If you're using the High Wycombe transmitter, and BBC channels are back on but ITV1 is not, try the contact details at Broadcaster complaints details | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Hi, I have moved to High Wycombe in rented accomodation HP13 5PB just picked up a Hauppauge winTV-nova TD-500 Digital Terrestrial TV receiver for my pc.

I have an aerial point in my room which goes to a roof aerial.

I just installed this device... did a scan... but cannot find ANY channels.

Can anyone help me understand why?

Is High Wycombe an analogue only area at the moment?

Any advice much appreciated.

Rather gutted here :-(

ronnie space: Sorry, but you have no access to Freeview until 4th/18th April 2012 when your region switches over. You will then have Freeview Light.

If you want digital TV before then, Freesat (or a DVB-S card for your PC and a dish) is your only option.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your advice - although I am now rather confused.

Checking with the land lady she has a roof top aerial not satellite, which all points are wired to.

She has a Toshiba DVB box and recieves digital TV channels fine with good signal.

However, I'm having no luck myself on my PC.

Ronnie
