rod tucker: Not sure what you mean by upgrading, but you will not be able to receive the commercial channels, including 5* and 5 USA from your location. You would be best installing Freesat+ and not Freeview if you wanted access to additional channels.

Sharealam: vintagetv is a connected tv channel you need a freeview hd tv or set top box connected to a broadband connection. You cannot watch this channel on normal dvb standard equipment.

With Kendal TV Repeater or Relay being just outside of the town, TV reception in Kendal is very strong, and has little interference in my experience.

Since being asked to retune our TV a few weeks ago most of the main channels break up frequently especially BBC1 and BBC news 130. We were asked to retune a second time but the reception now seems to be worse. Is anyone else having this problem.
Previously before retuning our reception was good. we are in LA9 4HX.

Pauline Nixon: Perhaps your TV is tuned to the wrong transmitter (i.e. one to which your aerial doesn't face).

The two possibilities would appear to be Kendal Fell on UHF channel 46 and Kendal on UHF channel 60. Quoted channel numbers are for PSB1 multiplex which carries the BBC services.

The signal strength screen should indicate which channel it's tuned to. Pulling the aerial out for the part of the scan which the unwanted channel broadcasts is a possible workaround, if this turns out to be the case.

Cannot at present access 5*, Demand4 or 5USA (can do it through computer but not very good)(Purchased a Freeview TV when we went digital and had all the Freeview channels but some were taken off a few months later., leaving only C5. Most of the programmes one watched back then were moved onto the Demand 5 etc., If I purchase a new TV with built in Freeview (again)will I be able to receive these channels, or do I have to get a freeview box and access it those channels from there. Why is life so complicated!! - Kendal area LA9 5ET

Mrs B Bellas: The short answer is no. Look at the top of the page, where it says 'Are you trying to watch these 50 Freeview channels?', and then lists channels like the one your trying to watch. Its a light PSB transmitter, and those other channels cannot be bothered to pay to transmit to you - its not worth their while.

Since you put your postcode into the site, we can see what your local transmitters are like, and Calbeck is the only one that could do it, but Digital UK reckons thats next to impossible.

Best bet? Go Freesat. You ight not get all the channels, but you'd get more than your able to now.
