The bbc channel signals have all been missing for the past 2 hours (at least). Nowhere can I find a fault report. Where should I be looking or phoning for up-to-date information?

John Tupper: There is no fault showing for the transmitter, so start by checking for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV. Are you missing any other channels such as ITV or Channel 4? Do not attempt to retune.

I have not had any bbc channels today. No fault at my end, but no information anywhere. This happens several times a year.Dave Hughes paradise24@btinternet.com

David Hughes: You can check the status of the transmitter yourself - it says its fine.

If its happening several times a year, and the transmitter seems OK, then logically it MUST be at your end. Start with the connections, and perhaps change the aerial lead - it might be no more than that.

MikeB: I am also unable to access BBC1 and BBC2, HD channels are working but not SD. I have seen this problem reported several times today and have seen replies stating the user has a fault at home! This is obviously not the correct answer as many people are experiencing the same problem today. On retuning, only 19 channels are available!

My bbc signals all came ba k at approx 3pm. I did nothing but wait (im) patientiently. Why is nobody announcing this interruption. Surely some authority should take responsibility for declaring current status.

Bill Pattinson: It might be that the problem is to do with retunes, etc. But the reason we advise a look at cables etc first is thats the most likely cause.

Think of it this way - 5200 use that transmitter. If just 1 house in 500 has a problem with their system, for whatever reason, then thats 10 people who have a problem. That doesn't mean the there isn't a problem with the transmitter, but the only information we have to go on is what is officially announced.

Faults with people's systems are not always straightforward, and lots of things can go wrong - and they can be intermittent..
