we have recently moved into this transmitter area and have not got all the channels we used to receive, can you advise when we are likely to be able to get for example sky on demand?

Roland Johnson: If you're talking about Freeview channels, this transmitter is a 'Freeview Light' transmitter. The commercial multiplex operators, which carry the rest of the channels, refused the option to broadcast from more transmitters after switchover, saying it was too expensive/not cost-effective.

There are ever rumours that they will add some additional transmitters to the 81 sites used before switchover, but it's likely to be high-power sites that can reach many more people. Oakley Mynd is low power and covers only 1,500 homes - and I believe that is the maximum number who could use it, not the number who have to.

Digital UK's predictor unfortunately shows no chance of reliable reception of the other multiplexes from any other transmitter.

To the best of my knowledge, Sky on-demand has never transmitted from any Freeview transmitter. If you're using satellite, you should get the dish alignment checked and ensure that any splitters are passing the control signals from the box up to the dish correctly. Which channels are you missing?

We have had absolutely no reception at all on any channel. Message on TV screen says "You are not tuned". Switched on at about 18.40hrs. Unplugged everything at 19.00hrs and left to "rest". Re plugged in and STILL nothing. Zitch!

Miranda Stanley: As you may possibly have noticed engineering work is presently taking place at the Oakley Mynd transmitter and with this being the most likely reason for your problem.

Another aspect being, that even when this work is completed you may still experience problems due to large swathes of the South West of the country being affected by the atmospheric conditions prevailing at this present time, this being the type of thing that would have resulted in ghosting / double images / wavy lines etc on the picture during the analogue years whereas with digital transmissions it kills reception, needless to say do NOT be tempted to carry out a retune as all you will achieve is to lose the channels already stored in the tuners memory and with this then requiring frequent re-tunes to recover them , whereas if nothing had been touched they would have returned of their own accord.

I am only three quarters of a mile from the Oakeley Mynd transmitter. I have direct line-of-sight between my aerial and the transmitter. My aerial is outdoors. I use a signal booster. Yet every time the site advises of "Reduced quality" I get no signal at all.

Chris Vowles: I have line of sight too, Chris, but am 6 miles away, so have no chance then!
No worthwhile signal and I use a super hi-gain aerial.

Chris Vowles:
At only 3/4 mile from the transmitting aerial you should not need a booster at all. It could be that your signal is too strong rather than too weak. When the problem occurs, try removing the booster and coupling the two coaxial plugs together with a proper coax coupler, making sure that it is the amplifier you are temorarily taking out of circuit and not just a power unit feeding to a masthead amplifier.
Then let us know what the result is, please?
