We have just lost nearly all digital tv over the last 30 minutes, started with ITV1 dropping to very low quality signal even though the signal strength was high. We are in BH14 9AF but no idea why this happens occasionally. BBC 1 & 2 seem most resilient. Any ideas?

I was talking to an aerial installer today 2/12/11 and he informed me that the Ashley Road Poole booster will only transmit BBC1& 2 Itv 1 channel 4.
I cannot get Rowridge as I live north of a hill in lower Parkstone.
Is the above true? If so Freeview is a complete joke. Why should I have to pay for either free sat sky or virgin and my licence when the new system is useless.
p.s. I only use a Sky e-dress!

lambert: In common with most relay transmitters the Poole relay will only transmit the three PSB muxes "Freeview Light". The channels you will receive include all BBC TV and (national) radio stations on MuxBBCA, from Mux D3+4 you will have ITV1, ITV2, ITV1+1, C4, C4+1, E4, More4 and C5. If you have an HD receiver fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner you will also receive the Freeview HD channels. Whilst there are no COM muxes this is still more than the four analogue channels currently available!

lambert: It is those broadcasters' choice as to whether they transmit from your relay or indeed any transmitter. Their main interest is to maximise profit rather than provide a universal service.

If you cannot get Rowridge, then you might be able to get another high-power transmitter, e.g. Mendip. With two aerials you could then receive the correct regional programming and the commercial channels. The viability of this option will obviously depend greatly on your location.

A friend of mine living only about 1.5mls from my house is currently receiving BBCHD on his Samsung TV with a FreeviewHD tuner. I have a Sony TV withan HD tuner and 2 Humax FreeviewHD receivers and cannot pick it up on any of them. I know this is pre-switchover, but can anyone tell me why he can receive them and I cannot? Would it be possible to manually tune these channels?

Johneboy: Briantist, I hear what you are saying and all of the literature says just the same, but I can still walk up the hill to my friends house and turn on his TV with a Freeview HD tuner and watch any of the Freeview HD channels. So they must be broadcasting now. Perhaps it is on a lower power?

Johneboy: If it some distance to the west then you will be in the Stockland Hill region which has had Freeview HD since 2009 - TV regions overview map | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

There is *NO* pre-switchover Freeview HD service in the Rowridge transmitter area.

I have just logged on to the site and found you have moved me to the Poole transmitter which very wrong no way can I get a signal from Poole. Digital UK Trade view puts me on the Mendips transmitter which I use at the moment, before I was on Winterbourne Sticland. I am going to try Rowridge when it goes to full power on 18/4/12
