Christine Green: The problem experienced with reception from the Ventnor transmitter is not necessarily caused by a fault on same, but possibly as the result of the engineering work which is presently being carried out at the Rowridge transmitter, the station having had a "possible weak signal" notification in operation for the last two weeks now.
The PSB signal from the Rowridge transmitter is already restricted to the South, and if the "over air" signal received by Ventnor from Rowridge drops under a certain level the Ventnor transmitter is liable to drop out, this I suspect, as possibly being the real reason for the problem.

jb38: thanks yes have bbc back now but for how long?- spoke to Freeview yesterday and they told me Ventnor was off air-it was the first time they actually confirmed there was a problem at all ! And that they didn' t know what was causing it- I have been banging my head against a brick wall for past couple of weeks getting anyone to confirm there were any issues, and been told to retune or even to get an engineer,so this felt like a victory , anyway I hope its the end of it

Christine Green: Well, as far as the reliability of the signal is concerned, unfortunately only time will tell, as its "possibly" down to when the engineering work is completed at Rowridge.
However, this problem was known about by the R&TV investigation service for quite a few days now, the latest offerings can be seen by opening the undermentioned link.

I`m trying to find out the name of the singer and song shown during ad. breaks on Your TV (channel 72). It occurs usually during the morning transmissions between 7am and 9am. Adverts are for Fox TV showing Bones and NCIS and contain a female singer with words like "You can`t (cheat fire ??) like the beat of my heart".

I suggest you ask the actual broadcaster of that service. This website is entirely independent of all broadcasters, being intended for technical reception assistance, so no one connected with this site has any idea.

Philip Hawkins:
As Ventnor is a relay of Rowridge the current work there will also affect reception in Ventnor.
