James MacMillan: Yes, the Glengorm relay transmitter is shown as being off-air since 15.53 today (4th December 2013). This affects both TV and FM radio services.

James MacMillan: Click the link "R+T Investigation" at the side of your posting - it says that the transmitter has been off air since 15:53.

It says that there is a power cut affecting PA75, which is where the Glengorm transmitter is. The start of the power cut is reported as being 15:56.

Hello
i receive my tv transmission from Glengorm and although south skye pick up very well
but in last few days the bbc programs seem to be bad or intermittent signal
my neighbour has said same is it possible the problem at the transmitter end

James Stewart: Hi, James. There are no faults at or engineering work on the Glengorm transmitter today, the last engineering works at Glengorm having taken place roughly one month ago on 16th. May. Maybe you and your neighbour need to carry out re-tunes in order to restore your channels from Glengorm. I would, however, check all of your aerial leads and plugs first, to ensure that there are no loose connections or 'shorts' before carrying out a retune, and I would also ask you to advise your neighbour to do likewise. There are no plans for the commercial broadcasters to provide any services on the Freevoiew Light transmitters such as Glengorm. They have to pay for the transmissions and if they don't consider that to be commecially viable then they will not invest in a service that reaches too few people to be viable.
