Graham Chamberlain: I suggest that you speak to BBC Engineering on 0370 010 0123 and explain the issue, including that it affects others.

I reserve judgement on how successful I think you might be(!)

That said, the BBC is Public Service Broadcaster so may have obligations to sort out issues, although I'm not sure what it could do, apart from change the channel, if one is available. That then begs the question as to whether the other two channels should be changed for the same reason.

Looking at the projected coverage map of Hannington on this site I think that it is a likely cause.

Please keep us posted on how you get on.

Sandi: Because your aerial is pointed at Charlbury which is a Lite transmitter. According to the Digital UK postcode checker you could get far more channels if you have a new aerial pointed at the Oxford main transmitter .

I receive Freeview programmes from the Charlbury transmitter. Last Sunday morning, 15th March, there was a power cut in the area. Power was restored after about half-an-hour, after several unsuccessful attempts. Transmissions on frequencies C42 and C45 were also restored, but not that on C39 carrying BBCA, containing the non-HD BBC television channels and the BBC radio channels.

As at 1800hrs on Friday 20th March, programmes on C39 are still unavailable and I will be grateful for advice on when we can expect them to be restored.

Yours sincerely,
Robin Farmer

Robin Farmer:

Well this is odd as the BBC aren't currently reporting a fault with C39 PSB1/BBCA multiplex, they have listed the fault on the 15th, but someone else reported the same problem on Wednesday
Can you check that you haven't lost tuning to C39 by carrying out a manual retune?
If you definitely have no signal after doing that, phone the BBC on 03700 100 123 and make a point of emphasising that it's been off all week and that you have retuned.

Chris,

Thank you for your advice. I have undertaken a manual channel selection of Channel 39 and the problem appears to have been solved. In the past, Auto Re-tune has always selected the strongest signals, but, for whatever reason, clearly did not do so on this occasion.

I shall know what to do next time.
