We have a Sagemcom digibox.
On film 4 there was a message saying if you recieve film 4 on channel 15 please return your free view box.As our digibox is 3 years old this would not be possible Graham.

Susie Kilby: No. The only way to get all the Freeview channels is "if" she can receive them from Stockland Hill.

Presumably the so-called aerial "upgrade" was to replace the aerial pointing to Exeter St Thomas with one pointing to Stockland Hill, whose reception "might" be possible at that location. Unfortunately there are others in locations where reception from a full-service transmitter is not possible at all and so they don't have this option.

Graham Dyer: If you don't retune you're not going to get Film4 any more. But I'm pretty sure Sagem boxes can be retuned - have you gone into the menu? Do you know the model number of the box?

I live in St Thomas EX2 8BD and have done for about 5 years. I used to for about 4 and a half of those receive the freeview HD channels but I no longer do. I have updated all my equipment refined it countless times, I'm certain the problem is not my end, after all I did receive the HD channels for 90% of the time I have lived here. I also am not the only one to have this problem in the city. Please advise me on why I no longer receive them. With a large TV standard definition channels look awful. Thanks in advance.

Glen Peters:

At your location you could be using either the Exeter St Thomas Freeview Lite transmitter or else the Stockland Hill main transmitter. You can tell by looking at whether the rods of your aerial are set vertical or horizontal, vertical being for Exeter St Thomas.

You are only 3 km away from that so it could be that your signal strentgh is too high, HD does not like more than 85% strength. So please check what the signal strengths are on the various channels and which channels/frequencies are being used. Look at the 'digitaluk trade' link at the bottom of your post (http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/main/trade/EX2+8BD/NA/0/), it tells you which channels are used by which of the available transmitters and their compass directions.

Neither of the transmitters available in your locality carry the extended HD services on COM 7 or COM 8. But they do carry the BBC HD multiplex and you should be getting those channels.

Transmitter engineering: I am getting 0ne or two second picture pause (sound not affected) on BBC channels since 22 May. This is on both the freeview recording boxes so it's not a faulty box and reception on all other channels is fine. We are on the St Thomas relay station in Exeter.

N James:

The transmitter is currently listed for Planned Engineering with "Possible service interruptions". The BBC have listed "From 10:35pm to 10:53pm on 19th May 2020, BBC A and BBC B HD, Reduced quality due to a fault. Also From 0:24pm to 0:34pm on 22nd May 2020 BBC A and BBC B HD, Off the air due to essential engineering"
so this is likely to be the cause of what you are seeing and could affect all multiplexes whilst any further work takes place.

Stewart Price:

As you can see from the post before yours, the transmitter is the subject of Planned Engineering.
There have been several reports in the last 12hrs or so, where it's been off-air due to a faults and also due to essential engineering.
The most recent reported by the BBC -
From 4:25pm to 5:34pm on 28th Nov 2023 BBC A/BBCB HD Off the air due to a fault.

Do NOT retune when you have no signal, you can't tune to a signal that's not there! In most cases retuning when there's no signal just clears the correct tuning.

I can't find any further faults reported, so you should have your signals back at present..
Arqiva never say how long Planned Engineering will take as some of it may be weather dependant, any maintenance or repairs may be complex. It is unusual for the transmitter to be off-air for any extended periods without some warning. Individual multiplexes may be subject to longer periods of interruption depending on the work taking place.
