I have a high gain aerial receiving transmission from the Dover transmitter, but I live very close to the Chartham transmitter. My existing aerial is some 8ft above my house and I want to get it removed as it causes a lot of vibration in the wind. I intend to have a loft aerial to pick up transmission from Chartham transmitter (use to have this for anologue TV and had brilliant reception) however I have been told I wont get all channels from Chartham. Which channels can I pick up from Chartham?

Ellie: Chartham only carries PSB (Public Service) channels. See this page for a full list of Freeview services:

DTG :: DTT Services by Multiplex

You will receive only those in PSB1, PSB2 and PSB3 tables. PSB3 is the HD one, so if you don't have a HD receiver, you will only get PSB1 and PSB2.

Ellie: Now that the power of the digital transmitter at Dover has been increased, at switchover, you may find that you can get away with a smaller aerial and/or shorter pole for Dover. A smaller aerial will have a lower wind-loading.

Pam Johnson: Go to the UK Power Networks website:

UK Power Networks - Distribution Network Operator

Enter the postcode for the transmitter, CT4 7LP, given at the top of this page. It says that there is a power cut which occurred at about 15:30 which is due to an overhead line fault. See the website for more detail. (CT4 7LP)

I have no signal at all this evening. It was okay earlier on. We have had very bad and windy weather. I unplugged, I tried to re-scan and now I have a black screen, whereas before it was blue. Nothing. I am at CT1. Is the problem my aerial (wind?) or with Freeview, and what can I do?! Day before Xmas eve and Digital UK are "on holiday" so can't even get them on the phone to ask advice!

L Otter: Maybe it's just me. The posting immediately above yours indicates that there is a power supply failure to the transmitter site...
