Mike : I am convinced the signal from Hazler transmitter has been very poor for the past couple of months, giving both breaking up picture and sound. This site always says no problems with the transmitter and yet the signal definitely is no way as good as it used to be.

Derek: Check your system first - there are 2000 homes served by that transmitter, and if there had been a serious problem for a long time, you would expect a lot of complaints.
But your system is much more likely to be at fault, perhaps a dodgy cable or loose connection. If your not getting the full range of channels you expect, then thats likely. And check your tuned into that transmitter.

hi we live in Church Stretton and use the Hazler Transmitter. since Sunday the 20 th January 2019 we have had either no signal or the picture breaks up on all BBC programmes, all other channels seem to be OK. I have done all the tests mentioned on our Freeview Box etc. Still no good., according to the report there is nothing wrong with the transmitter so why is it just all BBC programmes that we can't receive ?
Please could you suggest what is causing this problem. thank you.

G Tarr:
Please check all your aerial cables and connections. Unplug all the coaxial connections and refit them to clear any corrosion/oxidation from the contacts as that is a common cause of that type of problem.

MikeP, thank you for your reply, I have had all connections removed and refitted, still no BBC channels. sometimes when we first switch on we get approx. 4 to 5 minutes before the picture breaks up and we get messages, CHANNEL IS SCRAMBLED AND NOT AVAILABLE, NO PROGRAMMES ARE CURRENTLY BEING BROADCAST ON THIS CHANNEL. All other channels are OK, ITV. etc. We are at a loss as to what to do. We have now been without BBC 1 BBC 2 BBC 4 etc, since Sunday 20th. Any suggestions at all ?
Thank you.

G. tarr: What signal strength and quality readings do you get on ITV?

Hi, under SETTINGS signal detection channel 42 Strength and quality is only 10 per cent, we are now getting problems with all channels.
Ch42 642000kHz.8 k, 1/32 is what is on screen under settings.
I switched to the freeview television and tried to update the channels, only 13 were listed and no BBC channels were found. We now have no channels at all, what's going on, it is so frustrating. Thanks for trying to help I think we need an engineer ?

G. tarr: If you're only getting 10% signal strength then you have a fault somewhere. Getting someone out to investigate sounds like a sensible idea.

Gary Szreider:
This independent helpsite is saying that the transmitter has no problems because there've been no automatic updates available for some reason, however having done some checks I can find no faults listed for the transmitter and it's not listed for Planned Engineering.
Your signal loss is most likely due to current weather conditions. Unfortunately temperature inversion/tropospheric ducting is accompanying the high pressure weather system causing signals from distant transmitters in Europe or the UK to affect reception of wanted signals. It can vary by the second, minute, hour or longer as well as being possibly intermittent.
Freeview and the BBC have current warning about potential intermittent disruption to reception.
The conditions may ease on Wednesday but may return towards the weekend.
Do NOT retune, when correctly tuned, all this is likely to do is clear your current tuning if no signal is found at that time.
