Assuming that you receive signals from the Henley transmitter, the two posts below yours shows why this may be.

If you provide a full post code for your location, or that of a very nearby public building such as a post office or shop, then it would be possible to confirm which transmitter is the most likely.

Are there still Henley on Thames transmitter problems?
Continually getting reception dropping in and out
I usually get about 60% signal strength, but it just drops to nothing, then back up!

Regards

Babs Towner:

You clearly have some aerial feed problems so please check all your aerial cables and connections. If there are coaxial plugs and sockets then unplugh those and refit. That will clear any corrosion/oxidation from the contacts which is a common cause of the problems you describe. DO NOT KEEP RETUNING, all that will do is lose the channels you currently have and will not resolve the loss of one or more channels.

Please provide your full post code, as requested in the text above the entry box you used, so that we contributors can look at the expected reception conditions at your location.

Lorraine Hillier:

I can't find any reports of problems with the Henley relay transmitter (but things may be slower in the current situation).

There is some "Tropospheric Ducting" around at present, see Effect of tropospheric ducting on Freeview | Help receiving TV and radio which may affect some parts of the country from time to time, this could be causing interference from more distant transmitters and might be the cause of your intermittent loss of signal if you aren't in a particularly good reception location. We'd need a full postcode to see what the Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker is giving for your predicted reception.

It's NOT a good idea to retune in such circumstances as most of the time it just loses the correctly tuned channels or ends up picking up another transmitter (the wrong region or foreign) and you have to repeat the retune when conditions change.

Other than that you could check for any loose connections at you aerial socket, coax plugs, fly leads etc. Always worth checking that your aerial appears intact and is pointing in the right direction.
