Tried disconnecting booster - bypassed it with aerial. No signal whatsoever. Tried retuning to north west and to isle of man as secondary. Wonder if manx telecom phone exchange tower is causing probs as it it 20 metres from back door! Carol b IM8 2LZ

Have tried everything you suggested. Problem much worse - pixellated recep/drop out on all channels. Aerial man checked conns but reckons that Ulster going fully digital in Sept 2014 has interfered with signal, esp chann 23 28. Also 4G mast outside may be causing probs. Next door on left - no probs. Next door on right retunes every other day! Giving up now! Can't cope with not being able to watch QI and have read 20 books since 1 Jan! Thanks for help.

c button: Should there be any suspicion that 4G transmissions are possibly responsible for your problem, then contact a company called at800 as seen on the undermentioned link, as they have up to date info on any 4G installations that may have taken place in your area, likewise if verified, will send you a filter for your aerial system totally free of charge, said filter being inserted in line with your TV's aerial input socket.

I am considering buying a new aerial to receive the Freeview transmission from Ramsey which is line of sight but about 3 miles away. There is one item I find confusing and that is your description of the aerial polarisation.
you state this:
"H/V: aerial position (horizontal or vertical)"
Which is it please or do I require a helical aerial?

I'm afraid you have misread the information. The reference to H/V is to explain what that means. Against each multiplex it shows they are all vertically polarised so you need an aerial mounted for Vertical polarisation reception. No TV transmitter uses 'helical' polarisation. You would be advised to have a wideband aerial fitted so it will be suitable for use if/when any further changes are made.

Up to 6 weeks ago I was able to access channels 10 and 81 they now show up as active but receive no signal has there been any changes im8 2es postcode

There have been no specific changes just affecting those channels (assume you mean ITV3 & Talking Pictures). Now the Ramsey transmitter is a Freeview Light transmitter and doesn't transmit the ArqB multiplex that carries Talking Pictures, see Digital UK | Channel listings
Either you are not tuned to Ramsey at all, or are possibly picking up just the COM4/5/6 muxes from another transmitter.
Check which way your aerial is pointing. Putting your postcode into the DigitalUk coverage checker Coverage Checker - Detailed View shows the predicted reception from the various transmitters.
Enter your sets tuning menus to see which UHF channels you are actually tuned to which may help. You might also want to check all your coax connections, at least unplug them and re-plug them to try and ensure no dirty or bad connections.
Something else worth trying if all else has failed is to unplug the aerial and do an automatic tune which will clear all previous tuning & channels. Then plug the aerial back in and do a manual tune for the UHF channels for the multiplexes on your preferred transmitter(s).

Im in Ramsey
Its either scrambled or no signal .
Data service
I retune but does not make any difference

Current weather conditions are causing "Tropospheric Ducting" which is affecting different parts of the UK at various times, this results in inference from distant transmitters.
Both Freeview and the BBC have issued warning about short term reception problems.
If you were correctly tuned you are advised NEVER to retune when you have No signal or badly pixellated pictures as this usually just clears your correct tuning.
You then have to retune again when signals are normal which might mean several attempts as yoyu won't know when that may be.
But as you have only lost signal on one set, I would check all your aerial connections behind that TV first. Do they both share the same aerial?
If you don't normally have problems getting correctly tuned when you have retuned with previous channel changes, best to try again. Otherwise we'd need to know which way your aerial points and a full postcode to advise which transmitter you may be receiving.and so which UHF channels to tune to. IF you are actually pointing at the Ramsey transmitter the UHF channels are C39, C45 plus C42 for the HD ones if you have an HD/T2 tuner.
