I took my spare set top box (which works OK in Crawley) to Bexhill where, on the TV screen, it showed below the programme number, No signal, and only receives BBC 1, 2, ITV 1 and channel4 Where am I going wrong?

A.E.Arthur: The Bexhill relay transmitter does not start transmitting until next May, when the parent Heathfield transmitter switches over.
It sounds like the aerial at that address is pointing to some other transmitter that does not yet provide digital services, or possibly a main transmitter that is sufficiently far away, or restricted in some way, so that you can't get digital yet.
If you provide a full postcode, we can see whether Digital UK reckons that Bexhill is the best option, or whether another transmitter would be better.
Note that this will be a 'Freeview Lite' transmitter, providing only the three public service multiplexes. The commercial multiplex operators have refused to transmit from any additional sites.

My parents live in Eastwood Road, Bexhill. All BBC programmes keep breaking up both picture and sound. At one time they couldn't get any digital from a digi box but got an local arial guy to fit a new arial. I think he has fitted some kind of booster as well. Now they get all programmes except the BBC ones. They have to watch them on Analogue.
Will they be able to watch the BBC when the change is in force? As they are in their 80's I don't want them to have to go to any more expense. They bought a T.V with Freeview, still no luck.

Lianne: You have not provide a full postcode, so I can't say for sure. Everyone who has analogue reception before switchover will have the public service digital channels afterwards.

Re: The new tx for Bexhill. My aerial points to Hastings & I receive mostly adequate but often poor digital signal. I have two reasonable quality digital boxes, & a (supposedly) digital friendly aerial installed in 2003. Will I need to replace or re-align my aerial when switchover arrives? Post code TN40 1NS

Bob Reynolds: I take it you realise that the new Bexhill Freeview service will be a three multiplex PSB only station? unlike Hastings operating as a full service six multiplex one.
The present aerial you are using will most likely be a wideband one as Hastings spans from Ch21 to Ch63 whereas Bexhill will only cover from Ch40 to Ch46, and so your existing aerial will be OK as far as that aspect is concerned although anyone starting afresh should use a group B aerial for maximum efficiency, but at your relatively close distance to the Bexhill station its neither here not there.
However, your aerial will require to be turned around from its present angle of 65 degrees for Hastings to 271 degrees for Bexhill, other wise everything else is OK.
The 13th of June is when all three multiplexes start operating, as only the BBC will be transmitting from the 30th of May.

I have just retuned today to a HD freeview box and have lost "Dave"
I retuned yesterday (13th jun) using my TV's integral freeview and "Dave" was there.
I have a roof aerial directed at Hasyngs and my post code is TN40 2EW.
Ant ideas?

Tony Ashby: Could you receive Freeview before switchover?
I am wondering whether your reception is marginal and therefore the COMs will be subject to being hit and miss.
What happens when you bring up the signal strength screen? Is Dave on the TV and what is the strength for it?
What is the strength for ITV3 and Yesterday as well?
ITV3, Dave and Yesterday are all carried on different multiplexes (different signals) and these are less robust and not as strong as BBC, ITV1 etc.

hi Tony Ashby my mum lives in bexhill and she gets a perfict signal from Heathfield transmitter i had to move her aerial today i cant say if you will be the same but just thort i wood point it out and her aerual ant even got good cabel it just has very very old cabel with no foil screening and it still worked so it looks like it must be a strong signal from there oh and if you wont to try the aerial has to be horizontal and itve 3 ex will not be on till the 27th of june as its is still run on old low power till then but dave is workin fine hopw this healps
