Currently, I can get the usual 4 TV channels, but not Ch5; Ch4 picture is not very good at all. My two TV's have built in Freeview but I am unable to recieve any Freeview channels.
Come the Digital Switchover in Nov 2011, will I be able to recieve digital signals or will I require a new aerial, or even buy a Sat dish?
I don't want to take either of these options if I will get a decent enough signal, but I don't want to be caught out by hiked up prices in Nov/Dec
Can you advise the most cost effective proposition, please?
Thank you

Julie: Everyone get a Freeview signal at switchover. Just buy a Freeview box then, they cost a few pounds.

Hi Julie,
If your tvs have built in Freeview you may be in luck so do not worry to much depending where you live you should get a lot more channels. some very early freeview tvs may not work at c/o.But on plus side if you buy a tv with HD TUNER built in you will get BBC1,ITV1 AND CH4 in hd only minus is at momemt only 32 inch have HD tuner built in.
Hope this helps a bit.

Pretty incomprehensible inf for ordinary folk.I was electronic tech person but still bemused.
Thought we were using Tackleston but now perhaps Linnet Valley.Seems to work OK without aerial heading change.
Also a analogue set still works but for how long ?

H.Richardson: Analogue will be replaced with digital in your area on 23rd November when you will need to retune.

When will ITV3 and ITV4 be transmitted on the Linnet Valley transmitter?

Norman: The likely answer is "never".
The Commercial multiplexes which carry ITV3 and ITV4, as well as others like Film4 and Dave do not have as wide a reach as the Public Service multiplexes. The Commercial ones operate solely to generate profit and as such broadcast from 81 of the largest transmitters (largest by viewer population) which gives them a coverage of 90% of the population. To transmit from the 1,000 or so small "filler-in" relay sites like Linnet Valley would roughly double their cost of transmission whilst only adding 8.5% of the population to their potential viewer bases.
The Digital UK predictor suggests that you might be able to receive the full service from Tacolneston or Sudbury. I looked down your road on Streetview and can see a few aerials on these main transmitters.
