Dave Lindsay: Sorry, I don't know what you mean. There is no power domestic power outage here in Newhaven. If you mean to the transmitter, well I wouldn't know. Is that info out there? That's the bugbear-no info at all: in fact there is no fault showing on the n
Newhaven tranmsitter and it has been off for two hours now.

LV: The link I provided is to the map showing power outages. The one applicable to the postcode sector BN9 9 occured at 30-DEC-2013 13:10:27.
Perhaps, therefore, the power has been turned off to the transmitter site so as to reconnect other premises in the area, which could have been without power since Monday.

There seem to have been a surprising number of "wrong region" reports over some months, and more of them very recently.
How do these errors arise, and is there any sign that this problem will eventually be dealt with?

BN25 3ES. Along with my TV, I have a Panasonic Blue Ray/ Hard Disc recorder that I use to record freeview programmes to watch later.
Everything has worked perfectly until a few weeks ago after retuning both the TV and the recorder a small problem developed. It only affects the HD programmes from Newhaven on C40 and does not show up at all on the Standard definition channels.
When setting up recordings the programme information is available on all channels. However, when playing back that same programme information is available for Standard Definition channels, but is not available for the High Definition channels on C40.
I have gone through the reset procedures about 5 or 6 times without any success. It does not seem to be a problem with the recorder or with the signal strength.

Dear bbc newhaven,
Reception on my rooftop aerial has dropped out several times during the last two weeks. ITV has remained unchanged and so I suspect transmission problems. I live on the west side of Seaford and a friend has reported similar outages on the east side. It is getting very annoying as we feel we are not getting a good service...certainly not as good as in the distant past. We are still paying the licence fees and with the freeview lite service feel somewhat disadvantaged compared with other nearby locations.

Ralph Wood:
1) BBC newhaven does not exist - the transmitter is run by Aquiva, and both ITV and BBC muxes are transmitted at the same power anyway.
2) This site has nothing to do with the BBC, or with Aquiva.
3) You havn't given a postcode, so we have no idea where you are relative to the transmitter. Without that information, nobody can tell what sort of signal you should get.
4) However, you problem sounds very much like Ossie Nelson's issue on the Hannington thread Which Freeview channels does the Hannington transmitter broadcast?
The advice myself and MikeP gave probably applies to you as well.
As for the freeview light thing, David Lindsay has an explaination for it (which I suspect is on a copy and paste function), but basically, without the BBC, you'd pretty much get nowt. If geography means you can't get Freeview from a full transmitter, try Freesat.

Ralph Wood: PSB1 / BBC A (BBC standard definition TV and radio) from Newhaven is on UHF channel 50. This is co-channel (same frequency) with one of East Dean's multiplexes and you might just have (or almost have) line-of-sight at 5 miles. The other two channels (PSB2=commercial standard definition and PSB3=HD) of Newhaven aren't shared with East Dean.
