Lesley Horner: "Freeview Light" is the unofficial term given to the service where only PSB channels can be received.
There are over 1,000 small transmitters (which cover a small area and serve a small number of viewers) which are Freeview Light.
The Poplar transmitter is one such station.

I live in Woodford. My Freeview screen has gone completely black. No information at all is visible. I did some digging around to find information and according to Freview customer services my signal is from Crystal Palace. However, on the map of my signal route the green line also passes directly through the poplar transmitter.
I am not convinced that the fault with my signal which is exactly the symptom described for the Poplar Engineering works has happened during the period of the works and is unrelated to to the works.
My questions are:
When will these works finish
What do we do to recover from the blank screen
Does someone just need to pu the power up
Does the Poplar transmitter act as a booster for Crystal Palace
There is generally poor signal in my area and it was only a few weeks ago I bought a poster and things were working absolutely fine, until sometime on Thursday.

Donald: It's quite safe to say that you won't be tuned to the Poplar transmitter in Woodford. The Poplar transmitter was built in 1991 for those in the Poplar and Bow Common areas who had poor reception owing to the Canary Wharf casting a shadow in the signal from Crystal Palace. The coverage map at the top of this page gives an idea of the sort of area the Poplar transmitter may be available.
In Woodford you are most likely using Crystal Palace. When you say you have no information at all visible, then do you not have the on-screen display that you can bring up? Likewise the menu? If it were not to be bringing these up when the TV is turned on then that suggests a TV fault.
If you do have on-screen display and menu available then it may be worth seeing if it is an issue caused by a nearby mobile phone base station starting using the 700MHz band, frequencies previously used for TV. This can sometimes cause problems with reception and the solution is usually to install a filter. Restore TV is the organisation charged with alleviating TV reception issues caused by mobile phone base stations. They should send a free filter should they think you could be potentially affected.
If you are using a booster then the filter must go before it. If the booster is on the roof with the aerial then they should send an engineer to fit an outdoor filter on the roof.
