des drumm: Not strictly on Freeview, but there will be a DVB-T2 ("Freeview HD") broadcast from a few sites in Northern Ireland of channels from the RoI after switchover, but the actual details are still being finalised.

Jennie: I regret to say that you will have to think about something else as a gift for your Dad, as Freeview reception is presently not possible from anywhere in that area and unfortunately wont be until October 2012.

Jennie: Re: reply made, I have just been checking elsewhere and see some contradictory forecasts, so for a higher element of accuracy could you please provide the post code applicable for your Dads location, as what I had said was based on using the local post office in that area as a test code.

When will Strabane be able to receive freeview? I have heard a rumours that the mast won't be upgraded and other rumours that it will be upgraded in the next few months?
Can anyone confirm when the upgrade if there is to be one will commence?

Concrete: On 10th October BBC Two analogue will be switched off and BBC services will start transmitting in digital (Freeview). Two weeks later on 24th October the other services will be turned on having switched off the remaining three analogue channels.
Note that Strabane will be a "Freeview Light" transmitter as it will only tranmsit the Public Service Broadcaster (PSB) multiplexes (groups of channels). These are BBC TV and radio, UTV, C4, E4, More4, C5 and HD channels).
