Dave: The Rosehearty relay only transmits the three public service multiplexes. The commercial multiplex operators - which carry the other channels - don't want to spend the money on having equipment installed and maintained at all the small relay sites. They were quoted about three times as much as their current running costs, about £12m more, for all the relays.
You would likely need a new aerial for Rumster Forest, as the existing aerial is probably Group B, while Rumster Forest transmits in Group A and C/D (i.e. below and above the range that your existing aerial is designed to receive).

Why does the Rosehearty transmitter offer such a limited range of programmes through Freeview. Everywhere else that I stay gets many more programmes than we can receive. We pay the same money for the equipment why aren't we given the same level of service?

martin bilbie: This transmitter is a "public service" transmitter, where the commercial operators have declined to operate from.

mr ian duthie: I presume that your aerial is on the Rosehearty relay (275 degrees, vertically polarised). This doesn't carry the commercial channels.
The Digital UK predictor doesn't look good for reception from Durris for the commercial multiplexes. If you are to ever get such channels, then I think we can safely say that it will have to be a rooftop aerial.
Perhaps the pros might be able to suggest what the possibility of success might be.

My itv, ch4, 5 and +1 channels are now showing as they have no signal. Is there something wrong? My aerial is in the loft and we are tuned to the rosehearty transmitter.
