The symbol shows the location of the Newry South (Northern Ireland) transmitter which serves less than 500 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Mr t: To receive the COM multiplexes (Film4, QVC. Sky News etc) you need to be able to receive signals direct from Divis. A group "A" aerial set for horizontal polarisation (and pointing to Divis) is required, assuming you have no local obstructions in the signal path. HD transmissions are available from all UK TV transmitters. To receive these you need a TV or set top box which supports DVB-T2 transmissions. A receiver sold as "HD ready" will normally require the addition of a Freeview HD box.

A useful alternative use for the DTG-6 256QAM 32KE 2/3 40.2Mb/s DVB-T2 MPEG4 Mux on the Newry South Tansmitter would to replace it with a NIMM Mux to transmit TG4, RT One, RT Two and RT Raidi na Gaeltachta to residents on the shadow of Flagstaff Hill, on the B79 Newry to Omeath road, which blocks signals from the Clermont Carn transmitter approx 15Km awayA precedent is the NIMM mux on the Brougher Mountain (Northern Ireland) transmitter. The Only alternative for residents in this area to view TG4, RT One and RT Two is to subscribe to Sky

Sean O'Suilleabhain: The BBC aren't going to remove their HD multiplex to replace it with Irish channels. I'm not sure what you mean by Brougher Mountain being a precedent as the NIMM mux is broadcast alongside the six main multiplexes, it hasn't replaced one of them.
