I live in EX7 9DY. Can you kindly give me the compass bearing to point to the Dawlish BBBC, ITC, UKTV etc TV transmitter tower. What kind of aerial do I need and are the signals all vertically polarized ? Are the signals strong enough to use a high gain aerial in the loft - or does it have to be outside with a 'line of sight' position?

Dr Alan Green: The Dawlish transmitter is on a bearing of 318 degrees from your location. A wideband aerial would be recommended as the frequencies used by the transmitter will be changing next year, which should be mounted vertically. You're only 1km away so it may well be OK in the loft if it can be positioned so that it isn't pointing through any other objects or neighbouring lofts etc.
