Why does Barskeoch Hill only deliver 3 muxes rather than the 6 elsewhere in the UK

Colin: Simply because the additional muxes seen on main stations are purely there "and paid for" by commercial interests, but with these same interests not being willing to pay towards the running costs of additional muxes in smaller areas that cover a limited number of homes, simply because its considered by them that the running costs involved would exceed the financial returns expected.

There are hundreds of PSB only muxes in the UK, and what's been said applies to them all.

Colin: The three multiplexes that Barskeoch transmits are the Public Service Broadcaster (PSB) ones and there are over 1,000 other Freeview Lite transmitters that each cover a small area.

The other three muxes are operated by the Commercial (COM) broadcasters and they choose where to site their transmitter as they have no "Public Service" obligation. They cover 90% of the population by broadcasting from 81 of the largest sites (largest by population).

The projected cost of them using the rest of the transmitters would roughly double their cost of transmission whilst only adding 8.5% off the population to their potential viewer base. Due to the profit-driven motive of these organisations, they decided not to bother with the smaller transmitters.

Why dose dalbeattie have the worst signal in the Dumfries and Galloway area the most channels that I can get is 18 and now we can't even pick up any of the BBC TV channels let alone radio channels now as a TV licence payer of 154.50 per year I expect to be able to watch a lot more channels than just 18 so either get it sorted out or I am not paying for any more license's for I am not paying for goods that I am not receiving fully a very angry customer

JANET LYNNE WHEELER: Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see which transmitters cover your exact location, where you are in relation to them and your predicted coverage etc. Your TV Licence is not a subscription and does not entitle you to receive any channels, it is merely a licence to receive TV broadcasts or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer, it does not provide funding to any commercial channels and has no bearing on your ability to receive them. It also isn't payment for goods of any sort. Also, posting on an unofficial technical help website telling people to "get it sorted" won't make anything happen, as no one from any broadcaster or transmitter company will read your post here, nor will anyone know where you are or be able to establish what is causing the loss of channels from such little information.

There's been a retune event on 31st July as part of the 700Mhz clearance, you should have seen on-screen messages over the previous few days to advise you need to retune.
An automatic tune should suffice. but if you have to do a manual tune the UHF channels are -
PSB1/BBCA - 29, PSB2/D3&4 - 31, PSB3/BBCB (HD) - 37.
