Mister jimmy: Nothing has been reported as yet on the engineering notice board with regards to any faults on the Oban transmitter, although if its being caused by a failure in the electrical supply to the transmitter then this would be a reason for it not having being reported.

Hi, I have own a caravan at Tralee Bay holiday park near Benderloch and since I was last there weeks ago I have lost all my Freeview HD channels. I have retuned my TV and Digital Recorder twice but have lost all the HD channels. I have tried moving my Ariel but with no success. Can anyone help or advise or is experiencing the same problem? Thanks

Kenneth Love: Hi, Kenneth. According to Digital UK, you should be using the Oban Freeview Light transmitter which only transmits a limited number of channels anyway, but it does transmit the MAIN HD channels. The polarisation of your aerial must be VERTICAL, i.e. the little elements or rods along the aerial should point UP AND DOWN, with the aerial pointing to the transmitter, to your South-South- West. The UHF channels used at Oban are channels 44, 41 and 47 if you care to carry out a 'manual tune'. Richard, Norwich.

Kenneth Love: the full service transmitter that serves the Benderloch area is Torosay. Aerials should point to 259 degrees (almost West) and be set for vertical polarisation. Manual tuning requires C22 to be selected for PSB3 which carries the main HD channels. Reception is predicted to be good, but is subject to the amount of foliage present on any trees growing in the signal path.

Hi KMJ, problem solved by retuning
on manual tuning on C22 with Ariel directed almost due west to Torosay and all HD channels are back on now. Many thanks.
