james petrie: If you're using an older TV that doesn't have Freeview built in then you will need both a Freeview box and an aerial. Either a box or an aerial on their own won't be much use.

JOHN GALLAGHER: Nobody chooses which channels you get. The PSB channels (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5) are broadcast from over 1,100 transmitters (along with some of their offshoot channels) reaching 98.5% of UK households. The commercial broadcasters are not prepared to pay for that level of coverage, however they can choose to pay for space one one of 3 commercial multiplexes which broadcast from around 90 transmitters which cover around 90% of UK households. There is also another national commercial multiplex (COM7) which covers around 70% of households (broadcasting from only 25 transmitters) which costs less for channels to be carried on and is where where Freesports can be found.
