Manfred Pinske: You are very close to the Darley Dale transmitter and therefore your TV could have tuned to it. (I am assuming that your aerial is directed at Stanton Moor as that is the page you have posted on.)
Darley Dale uses lower frequencies than Stanton and it could be that your TV, when doing its scan, found the former first because of this.
If your aerial is on Stanton Moor, run the automatic tuning scan with the aerial unplugged and then plug it in when it gets to 60%. This will have the aerial unplugged whilst scanning Darley Dale's frequency and plugged in for Stanton.

Why does this transmitter not broadcast the whole Freeview range? Just saying that it's a relay transmitter doesn't mean anything, why don't relay transmitters broadcast the same as full transmitters?

James Hyde: Relay transmitters mainly serve small areas that aren't otherwise served by high power "main" transmitters. They are so-called because they relay the signal from their parent, that is they receive it off-air and rebroadcast on their own frequencies.
As most relay transmitters only serve a small number of households, the Commercial broadcasters aren't interested in having them carry their channels. See here for an explanation:

What's Happening?
Stanton Moor seems to have lost HD signals from Wed PM onwards. Have re-tuned my set top box and all other signals are there.

S Stoker:
Well, it seems that the transmitter came back on air at 1327hrs according to the BBC transmitter checker and it was "Off the air due to essential engineering". It also seems that Freeview haven't bothered to report the fact that it was off-air or the fact that there was Engineering Work!
