Tony Betts: Are there any BBC1 or BBC2 channels stored in the 800's of the channel list which work correctly? At your location you could be receiving signals from both Rowridge and Whitehawk Hill with your aerial pointing to Whitehawk Hill or Newhaven (which is still analogue only). If this is the case try doing a manual tune for each of the Whitehawk Hill frequencies after first clearing the channel list of data. Alternatively, do a channel scan with the aerial unplugged until the scan has gone past the Rowridge frequencies, then plug the aerial back in at about C30.

Bill: Remember though, that its June 13th before the ITV stations can be received as well as the BBC & ITV HD channels, as its only the BBC that starts early.

Just out of curiosity, as you have never used the digital tuner before on your TV I would be interested to know what model of set you have? this purely to check on certain technical aspects concerning the TV.

If you are having difficulties trying to retune, be aware that Newhaven digital doesn't start until 9 am on 30th May. The Newhaven Transmitter page doesn't tell you that, although the information appears with the Heathfield information elsewhere.

Thanks for the comments. Just some background info, I like most residents of Newhaven, haven't waited years for digital tv, so have had to opt for satellite to get it. I went for a Freesat Humax HD recorder which gives me all the TV I need, without giving the Murdochs even more money!

jb38 the TV is a Toshiba WLT68. I checked just now and BBC2 giving blank blue screen. Will try after 9am to tune in to the first lot of digital channels.

Unfortunately when I bought the set there were no HD Freeview sets, so will only be watching HD on Freesat.

Newhaven

Just after 9am I was finally able to tune into all the BBC channels.

The quality of the old analogue signal was awful and also in 4:3.

Digital picture vast improvement, but still softer than on Freesat in SD. Could play with TV settings, but that will affect Freesat picture as well.

I find the Standard Def picture on Freesat very good if original broadcast is done in HD.

At least now I will be able to record two channels on Freesat and still be able to watch another channel on Freeview.
